Hey I don't like the sound of that riverpastor. So what I believe that salvation can be lost only if one takes their faith out of the Lord Jesus Christ, that's it. I would never say that to you, or anyone other Christian for that matter.

Isn't this when Grace comes in? There is only one sacrifice for sin. This is true. That is your condition before you are saved, "But if you do sin, after you already belong to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrightousness." Then it's grace, grace, grace, because you already belong to Him. You didnt belong to Him before, but now you do. "I will Never leave you or forsake you".. if you mess up, and believe me, you do... He knows you didn't want to, because you are a new creature, He now extends to you His Grace. Grace that has no limits. His grace, promises to cleanse you from all unrightousness. Thats a promise, and he will perform it. His grace should be drawing you closer to Him, not away from Him. We don't frustrate the grace of God (the work He has begun in you) by trying to establish our own rightousness, (this is usually the biggest sin we commit) but submitting ourselves to His rightousness, (which has always been His Son). When you submit to His known rightousness, (His Son) that leaves the door open for God to start conforming you into the image of his Son.

When you try to establish you own rightousness, it closes the door of his work of grace in your life....No... It slams the door shut.

Phl 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:

Actually, this is more a definition of MERCY.

Grace is an exhibition of God's strength as YOUR strength.

It is an exhibition of His Righteousness as YOUR Righteousness.
It is an exhibition of His Sanctification as YOUR Sanctification.

You can't suggest to live one without the other.

By GRACE are we saved and that by faith and not works lest by any means we should have something to boast about.

Mercy finds us at the doorstep of forgiveness. Grace lifts us up into HIS VERY RIGHTESOUNESS.

Maybe so RP.. we are saved by his Grace. All I know, is I cant continually save myself. One day your o.k. with God, the next day you aren't. When I abide in the knowledge that He is my Rightousness, I'm free, when I dont abide in this truth, I get into alot of confusion and wrong thinking.

Abide is a key word here Trish. For it is what we are called as "little Christs" to do.

We rest, abide, in Him and His completed work.

No work to add to or take away from His finished work.

But we also have His continual work. What is He doing in you and through you TODAY by His Spirit. He is putting into effect what His completed work has already bought and purchased.

You are right in saying that we cannot continually save ourselves. We must at once throw ourselves upon His Mercy and forever more live by His Grace. Our salvation is an instant and continuation of that instance for the rest of our lives.

The justified shall live by faith. Those justified ARE so because they believe the work to have been placed and fulfilled on one Man's shoulders, Jesus the Messiah.

We were saved by faith and we live out that salvation by a constant and continual FAITH, not works. That faith will produce works in us and through us but these works do not save us nor do they maintain our salvation.

Bump bump

I think Hagin is bang on the mark herse. I have read Pawon's book which is an excellent, thoughtful rebuttal of OSAS. Unfortunately, in its place he has a system closer to Did's idea ASSD (love it!).

However, Pawson has been denied access to many churches for this message. Mainly churches which are majorly Calvinistic - as are a lot in this country.

Andrew Wommack has a tape called "Eternal Security" (also called ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED). I recommend this thoroughly. He outlines a view similar to Hagin, and used Scripture to make a (IMO) very strong case.

Cheers,

This is the one thing that I disagree with with Bro Hagin.

I also disagree with the fellowship/relationship thing. The two are the same thing. There is no difference.

I also believe that Hagin does not believe in OSAS becos of a vision he had. It's a long story and its recorded in his book "I Believe in Visions".

His position actually is that only mature spirit-filled Christians can lose their salvation, according to that vision.

Finally, 1 John 1:9 is not for the Christian to use.
whoa...why is 1 john 1:9 not for the christian to use??
(i also agree with bro.hagin on this issue).
