I love cycling. Been riding since 2004. Just got back into it. Done several centuries including 6-gap in North Georgia, 100 including 6 mountain climbs.

I have 4 bikes, wife has 3. My 3 kids have a couple each lol.

I ride a 2006 Trek Madone 5.2. My wife has a 5000 TCT Carbon WSD.

We both also have a mountain bike and hybrid as well. Also have a Trek pull behind kid trailer and a bike trailer that we connect to our hybrids for family rides.

So yeah I guess you could say I'm avid. It's great to be getting back into it recently.

Very nice! Beautiful bikes you guys have! Mountain Climbs are quite grueling but so much fun at the same time.
Yea I have only one bike right now, a 2010 Cannondale CAAD9 in my team's colors. Unfortunately I busted up my knees completing two centuries last year on a steel fixed gear bike (terrible idea). So this season has been suffering the huge consequence to that whole shindig..couldn't compete in a single crit race without DNFing due to pain in my knees, DNFed in a century, couldn't race on the velodrome. Just an all around terrible year for me in cycling lol. In the end my sports doctor told me I can't ride until at least January or February.
Do you and your family like cyclocross at all? What type of mountain bikes do you guys have? Do your kids enjoy cycling?

Indoor and outdoor. I spin when I can't hit the road. I do however feel the world of prof cycling has become a witchhunt for drug use. The Tour mainly. I don't enjoy it as much as I once did.

Well for me when I was at my peak performance earlier this year (prior to my knee injuries coming back to haunt me) I was doing about 30 miles every other day. About 120 miles weekly. Definitely not enough to be very competitive, but still was a ton of fun. Can't wait to get back on my bike as soon as I can.

Well, I have been riding for as long as I can remember. I raced road bikes for about 12 years or so and did my last 3 as a Cat 3. But those days have gone. I never really stopped riding though. Last fall I did a conversion on my mtb to a single speed. I loved it but the frame was a cheap one and flexed alot so the whole pulley tensioner thing did not work too well. I have since bought a dedicated SS bike and spent the summer dumping too much money into it and getting myself in trouble with my wife over it. Still out riding now though. Took off last Friday night on a group ride and the temp was 21 degrees when we left at 8PM. It was a blast though.

But due to my schedule and the weather I'm not getting in the riding time I was over the summer. I'm lucky to get out twice a week right now for a total of about 10-20 miles.

I would like to add that a full blown carbon saddle (carbon fiber rails and seat) is great on a MTB out in the woods but not that great out on a road ride!

I have a full carbon saddle on my mtb as pictured above. It took a little getting used to in the beginning but I find that it does not bother me much at all while out on the trails now. Yesterday however, I took my bike out for a bit of a road ride. My legs were still a little tight from my training ride the day before on my indoor spin bike so I decided a casual ride out on the road with some fire breakers added in would be a good idea. I tell ya, I found myself racing for the next fire break. My butt was killing me from sitting on that horrid saddle! I don't know how the pros can do it. I raced road bikes for some 12 years and there is no way in (well you know where) that I would ever ride that long on a road bike with such a hard saddle. I seriously thought I was going to have to go to the hospital to get it removed yesterday after my ride! Ok, just thought I would share that with you guys!

I wouldn't say I'm "avid" anymore, but I still do enjoy riding and try to get out on my bike whenever I can.

I ride a bike a bit, not as much as i used to (only because ive been doing some gym to look more muscley and am not as worried about getting high km's )
I competed in the 09 world cup of track cycling in Melbourne for Ireland. Since then its been a bit more relaxed, i dont ride for a team or any thing

I enjoy helping other riders get better etc

Just wanted to reignite this thread since I was searching for one on cycling. I am a road cyclist in the States. Raced for a little bit and now just enjoy the bike...not the pros or anything about that lifestyle, but just getting out and away with Christ, admiring the beauty He has created.

This year the Tour of Spain, begins in Pamplona (Navarra, North) on August 18 and ends as usual in Madrid on September 9. This year the stage will run through northern Spain.

Wow, sounds like you guys are getting in some good rides!

I raced my mountain bike a few years ago and usually road 10-30 miles a day. On the shorter days I would do hill climbs and on the longer days I would do longer timed runs. I've been lifting since I graduated high school in 96 but I felt better when I was riding.

I still ride every once in a while but I've been playing basketball on Saturdays and have devoted more time to that. I am going to try to get my miles up this summer though

I have a Rockhopper 29er expert pro with a few modifications. I live just south of Morgantown near Fairmont WV. Where do you normally ride and what do you have?

That's basically my bike but I have upgraded a few things including a much lighter wheel set and tubeless tires. Its a lot of fun and was a big upgrade from my other bike which is a 1993 GT Ricochet. The GT still works well, especially for a bike its age that has been abused so much but the geometry of mountain bikes has changed drastically over the years.
