Every time I express my excitement about God's grace, more experienced Christians seek to ground me by ministering against sin.

Why must it be one or the other? Through my lens, I'm waking up happy for the first time in my life. Gratefulness for having recieved salvation has set my path straight. It's the fact that I have him with me right now. I'm not working towards the reward of heaven or fearing damnation but rather happy for each breath I take here on earth.

How can I, one man who just met God, convince myself and others that being Christian is way more exciting than trying your best not to sin until Jesus comes back? You have a live and wonderful relationship with God to wake up to every day!

Scripture please and thank you.

Love you all and bless you

We can greatly enjoy the peace we have found in Jesus and also seek to do our best to avoid sin.. But at the same time have peace knowing all our failures in sin avoidance are covered by His Atonement..

We should both aknowledge our sins and at the same time believe we are forgiven and forgive others their sins against us and forgive ourselves for the sins we have done... That way peace is maintained.

Some people with a works based mindset really get depressed when they have failures in sin avoidance because many of them do not trully believe they are forgiven.. They do not forgive themselves and often have greater then normal dificulty in forgiving others for the wrongs done to them..

No one has ever explained all of this any better than the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans. Become an expert on Romans.

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
(Rom 7:4-6)

For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
(Gal 2:19-20)

The push/pull between grace and the law (or works) has been going on since the beginning, since the Apostle Paul's days.

Galatians 2:16

16 yet we know that a person is not justified2 by works of the law obut through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, pbecause by works of the law no one will be justified.

Also read Acts 15.

How someone responds has less to do with how "experienced" or "old" they are, and more about how close they are to God. Knowledge of God does not equate to closeness to God. If you are acting on your love/thankfulness for what Jesus did, then you can always respond to them with:

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8, 1984 NIV)

However, note that they might be trying to do this:

remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins. (James 5:20, 1984 NIV)

If they are trying to help you out of love, you may want to learn how to deal with it politely. If they are doing it with condemnation in their hearts, then you may want to learn how to politely ignore it.
