  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

glorious appearing -- all i have to say is wow
he chose the nails - max luchado --very good read
I finished Glorious Appearing not too long ago. It was pretty good. I thought they did a good job of giving closure. Of course, I've heard that they're still going to do a prequel and a sequel to the series. :sigh: I kinda wish they would just leave well enough alone! :)

He Chose the Nails is also a great book. I love Max Lucado. He's very down to earth.

"If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat." was the last book I read. Loved it.
Who's it by and what's it about? I have a hard time keeping unread books in the house so I'm currently seeking new reading material.

In the meantime, I'm running through Purpose Driven Life for the third time this year, as well as Keeping God in the Small Stuff. It's a great devotional. I've read Do You Think I'm Beautiful by Angela Thomas. It had a few key messages that were very good, but I wish she would have expanded on them a little more. The book seemed to have been geared toward more insecure and uncertain women and I just couldn't relate to several parts of the book.

At some point, I need to pick up Seizing your Divine Moment since I have a friend that's hounding me about how great I'll think it is. I'm hoping for a new Tom Clancy soon, but there doesn't appear to be one coming in the near future. *pout*

It's by Ortberg. If you do the search on Amazon that'll give you a picture of the cover. I've seen copies at Non-Christian Bookstores too.

It's the "last" book in the Left Behind series by LaHaye and Jenkins.

oh.

I'm not a huge lahaye fan. I'm also not a huge fan of apocalyptic fiction...

The few fiction books that I do read are generally 19C English novels... little to no modern stuff (Life of Pi being the one exception within accessible memory).

btw, I just finished Journey of Desire... it was good, though I wasn't nearly as impacted by it as I had been by Wild at Heart (how ironic...). I'm not sure what I'll read next... perhaps "The Psychology of Atheism" by Sproul... I searched for that one for YEARS before stumbling across it in a local bookstore just a few weeks ago... I was shocked to see it there, since I'd had no luck finding it anywhere else.

At the moment (being where my heart is and all) I'm reading Wild At Heart (to help me better appreciate the species of man - which it has and it's made me feel guilty ) and Boundaries Before Marriage (also called Boundaries in Dating - for obvious reasons!! :))

Both great books - and I'm hoping to get Define the Relationship, Every Woman's Battle and the workbook for boundaries before marriage soon...
