  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's everyone reading these days?

I'm finishing up Chesterton's "Orthodoxy" for the second time. Then I am going to read Wuthering Heights, The Mayor of Casterbridge (second time), and more Chesterton (a collection of Father Brown stories).

I recently finished "Cracked", which is for those of us who care for people with addictions. Before that was a biography of Eminem. Quite a variety. :p

I just finished I kissed dating goodbye by JOsh Harris. It was pretty good, I found it to be more geared towards youth aged kids, but still great none the less. Dont agree with everything he says but still interresting.

Right now Im reading Do you think Im beautiful? The question every woman askes by Angela Thomas. Its amazing. Im not finished yet but its really helping me come to understand my emotions, my desires and how I feel as a woman. I now look at these desires as a blessing from God. God programmed me to have these feelings and now they are a blessing instead of a nuicense!!

The last book I finished was 'Purpose Driven Life' and right now I'm bouncing back and forth between 'The Prophet and the Messiah' (An Arab Christian's perspective on Islam and Christianity), 'The God of the Possible, 'The Jesus I Never Knew', 'Truth Decay' and 'Self Esteem' by McKay. :p I can never stick with just one book and finish it through...:sigh: The bookstore at the college I attend is a TRAP I tell you! I purchase one book and then with my receipt they hand me a 15% off coupon for my next purchase, and of course, I can't let it go to waste!

Let's see-"Purpose Driven Life" for a Bible study group at church. And "Rift in Time". It is a Christian Sci-Fi book by Michael Phillips. It is about the fictional discovery of Noah's Ark and an archaeologist who thinks he might have stumbled across the location of the Garden of Eden. It is very intriguing!

i just read the time traveler's wife, but if you're single (which i am) it may make you bummed out about being single b/c their love is pretty intense. I loved it nonetheless. 1st book I've loved in a long time.

Oh, also just read the life of pi, which I found reallly entertaining

oh yes, I read that one recently too. I found it pretty slow at first but I really did like the story and the idea he was trying to get across (and I think he did a really good job of that at the end). Good book.

I'm one of those who never just reads one book at a time.

The Book of God--Walter Wangerin Jr.
Purpose Driven Life--Rick Warren
A Woman and Her God--Beth Moore et al
Objects of His Affection--Scotty Smith

I think those are all that I'm actively reading right now. And actually I probably won't even finish the Woman and Her God book. I'm just not digging it and I think it's probably about time for it to go back to the library.
