  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Longing for Daddy - Monique Robinson
Define the Relationship - Jeramy and Jerusha Clark

both great. #1 makes me cry heaps, but is a good workbook for girls who've had an emotionally or physically absent father.

#2 is great, as I'm getting to a stage with my SO where we're taking it to the next level, so it's been good to work out how to have the important conversations we need to.

Right now, I'm studying various books for my tax preparer's exam, my certified payroll professional's license, and e-cybord training manuals for work.

When that gives me a headache, I'm reading The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. I'm muddling through that at half speed- about 25 pages an hour- but it's some fascinating stuff.

And when that gives me a headache, I just started Robert Ludlum's "Jason Bourne" series- The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy (saw the movie last night- awesome), and I believe the last one is Ultimatum.

I am reading Hadassah by Tommy Tenney. It is awesome. It's kind of a spin off story of the book of Esther, like her life story. I see and feel the real sense of a love story for us to come into God's presence. It's an awesome book thus far... and she was just made queen and named Esther.

Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People, The Holy Bible, Stag Lines: The Anthology of Virile Verse, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic rule book for computer game, and real estate flyers from possible relocation areas-visiting one tomorrow. Of course I have book shelves full of books I peruse when the notion takes me...

I LOVED Inferno. But I haven't read the others yet. Let me know how they are!

Just finished:
The Single Issue by Al Hsu. Christians and singleness. Very good.
Day of Deciet Robert Stinett. Interesting theory about how FDR "set-up" Japan to attack Pearl Harbour, and who paid for it.
Disappointment with God by Phillip Yancey. Wonderful book about suffering.
Assassination in Algiers by Anthony Verrier. About the politics between Churchill, Roosevelt and de Gaulle that led up to the murder of Admiral Darlan (a Vichy France minister).
Israel in Revolution 6-74CE by David M. Rhoads. Basically a secular view at Israel between the time Judea became a Roman province to the destruction of the final fortresses of resistance in Judea (Machareus, Masada), all without the Jesus part. Very interesting.
This list can go on forever. I read about 35 books in the holidays.

Still Reading:
The Thirty Years War: The Holy Roman Empire and Europe 1618-1648 by Ronald Asch.
Have yet to start a book on the Medes and Persians, as well as a lot of uni readings on Lev Vygotsky's theories of learning.

Can I ask why???

Well its really just not for me. You may love it and it may really help you out.

For a ton of reasons its not me. He trys to make everything this big deep intense life struggle and adventure, like you've got to be ''driven'' to do these things that you've been doing the whole time. When it comes down to it I could go without everything in the book just fine, it was as if hes saying ''ok heres what your already doing now be driven to do it like your waiting for something to happen'' my view in the end you'll still wake up go to work, go to church, hang out and have time with God, a few other things and die. You can make it into this big intense struggle and battle in your mind or you get over yourself and do what your going to do anyways.

It just seemed pointless. A bunch of theories and views.

Thanks,

Yeah I'm someone who likes to find out different people's opinions and stuff - I have a nasty habit of getting cranky if someone doesn't agree with a point of view I'm passionate about (I'm learning to bite my tongue) - so I like to read what people get out of books such as these that tend to take the Christian world by storm.

Thanks for giving me your point of view - I appreciate it.
