I've seen the deaf healed right in front of my eyes, as well as possibly the blind and mute also. Hard to counter that. I've also heard God whisper things to me that I've passed on to other people that they confirmed were true. Besides that, I also believe the Biblical principles makes sense for running a world correctly- don't lie, don't steal, don't murder. This combination of things, as well as an ongoing interaction with God, are what keep me a Christian.

God called me to this life when I was very young. I started going to church when I was in the beginning of grade school. I remember learning about Jesus and the cross, and learning what it meant to 'be saved' at a very early age. I was baptized at age 7 I believe. However, that was all well before I really understood it, but it certainly kept me on God's path. He has protected me and saved me from so many possible heartaches that I'm forever thankful. Growing up knowing about Him has been a real blessing. I haven't had to experiment with drugs or alcohol or any of that kind of stuff, HOWEVER, I am NOT perfect. I've lost my virginity, and have struggled with sex for quite awhile. I also become a bit lazy in my faith, which is TERRIBLE, but I think a lot of it comes from hearing it so much growing up.

I haven't had a lot of positive examples of what a 'good, Christian life' looks like outside of Pastors and the occasional church-goer that leads a devout life. Most of my life experiences I've had to learn through people like my brother who have wandered so far from the faith that it's scary. I see what my life COULD be like, and it frightens me.

I'm so thankful that God has spared me from the life that others have experienced. And I'm thankful that He has allowed me to go through all the bad stuff I've gone through so that I know what a life without Him is like.

All in all, I can't really explain WHY I've kept the faith-- I don't think it was really a choice I've ever considered. To me, God has ALWAYS been there. I don't remember life before knowing about Him, and I can't imagine going through life without Him now. He's always there, always faithful. He's always waiting on me, pursuing me, knowing when I'll run and when I'll come back. He's patient and gentle and awesome. Who WOULDN'T want that?! :)

I have seen miracles as well, but I didn't list them because I never needed to see a miracle in order to believe. Not that I think I'm one of those who can "believe without seeing" but my method of "seeing" was more intellectual than in-your-face miracles.

But more generally, and in accordance with the third point I mentioned, I often receive information about people, as in trouble they're having or decisions they're about to make, and then talk to them later and find out that the information was correct. Some of them I haven't seen nor heard from or about for a long time. Also I've received similar and even identical messages, apropos of nothing, from multiple people who had not communicated with each other, that confirm something that had been in my own heart. A few were very, very specific.

This is one of my favorite Bible verses . I know I posted in the other thread but I'll post here as well. I would not be alive today if I did not believe in God. When I was in the depths of my depression to the point of suicidal thoughts, the only thing that kept me going was that I was not sure where I would end up if I did kill myself. I knew I would disappoint a ton of people who cared about me, including God, and Satan would win. Despite how painful that time was, I just thought if I made it through to the next day, if nothing else, I was one day closer to Heaven . Even though I struggle now a lot with the Christian faith, if I didn't believe in God during that time I'm not sure if I would have survived .

I don't really consider myself as a part of Christianity, explanation here: http://www.christianforums.com/t7713468-4/#post62115486

I believe in God and His Son for these reasons

1) I believe God is the source of life. While I accept evolutionary theory, in my studying of it, I have found that life is not possible without the existence of God. Even if it it was, the odds are mind-blowing huge, it would be like assembling a car with just wind sand.

2) The truth found in the Gospel. The Author of Life and the Universe came to us and told us how to live.

3) The changes that I see happen in people when they meet Jesus.

4) The changes that I see happen when people live out the message of Jesus.
