This is a spite report:

THIS IS BLASPHEMY AGAINST GOD.

Putting "Flame" in the description for a report of a post that is easily mistaken for a serious remark is not a spite report. It's a mistake. And should be forgiven as such.

And this isn't whining. You haven't seen my whine. I'll start whining when I stop explaining my stance and start using caps in my post. (The above doesn't count as it's an example). Right now I'm laughing. This is really hilarious how your only argument is "Well you did it too!" You wanna talk about 3rd grade.

I am very strong about this, because I've been the, ahem, "tattletale" all my life. Not because I liked getting people in trouble. I just didn't like seeing them get away with something obviously wrong. And I'd get scolded for it. Know why nobody likes a tattletale? Because no one wants to get in trouble.

Well's here's a hint sweetheart. If you don't want to get in trouble, don't do anything you know is wrong. See if you KNEW the OP wasn't wrong, and if the OP knew she wasn't wrong, this thread wouldn't exist. The confidence that "Well that isn't wrong so I'm not worried" would make all the "GRRRR YOU REPORTED ME" spite go away. But no. You're very defensive. Because you recognize it's not the right way to behave. Someone caught you with your hand in the cookie jar and you're fumbling for an excuse.

First of all do not ever refer to me as hon. You aren't my friend and I do not care for people to use diminutive little names and tones with me.

Second of all what do you not understand about spite reporting? This does happen. If you plan to report this thread I guess you have to report all the threads that may seem somewhat ridiculous but are responses to the even more ridiculous and vitriolic posts about homosexuality and abortion because they are off topic too. OH NOES! What are you anyway the topic police?

Maybe if people seem to say you are bossy then perhaps you should take a hint at how you are acting.

Really? Why is that? How is that not reporting on spite? I mean why should a person who is reporting a post because they are ticked off that someone didn't fall down and agree with them and their version of Christiantiy/religion not be called for what they are. A spite reporter.

Good point, stan1980. I think this thread does belong in E&M. It's a thread about the ethics of wandering around reporting everyone who doesn't agree with you.

I wonder if FaithLikeARock has seen the posts that someone reported Miss Shelby on. It was a very silly thing to do.

I haven't seen the thread that the OP is talking about, but I personally think that the "no off-topic" rule has to go. I go to CF for fun. Nothing is more fun than a thread that's gone really off-topic. Like this:

So someone who reports an OP for being off-topic (of what?! There haven't been other posts yet! And I don't believe in forum-specific topicness; caturday doesn't debate, either, and that goes for many threads in this forum), or someone who reports a light post in a serious thread for being off-topic, is a spoilsport IMO.

Off-topic is good. It's the icing on the cake, or as we say, de krenten in de pap.

As for the grandmother rule - my own grandmothers* are dead, and when they were still alive I didn't discuss anything with them. They gave me tea and biscuits and asked me how school was. And I don't know other people's grandmothers (except my own mother, from my niece and nephew's point of view - but that's a weird way to look at your own mother). So that would mean that I can't discuss anything at all at CF. Except my grades in school. But I'm not at school anymore. Now what?!













*by the way, my maternal granmother had 8 children, my paternal grandmother had 9; they both knew what sex was.

No not really. I still think the OP has no discussion therefore shouldn't be in the discussion forum. There are plenty of fun forums. This forum is fun but not "Lets do whatever we want fun". If that were how the real world was, I'd dig myself a hole and live underground. But it's not.

Classic 3rd grade. Someone tattled on me, lets get all my friends and go pick on them and make them feel bad. It's just a report, rules need to exist, and you won't always get everything you want. I'd argue that it kind of does have a place here. It's a discussion on people reporting for light hearted jokes, and how sad it really is. Is it right or not? That's what we're discussing now it seems, and even before people were sharing similar experiences. It also belongs here because it talks about happenings in E&M.
