  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So, I realized last night that I don't think I've ever seen this conversation on CF. What brought this up is last night is my friends and I were watching football and my friends makes a comment how if was a woman, he wouldn't be cheerleader. I replied "I wouldn't mind, I was once". I then explain that I dated a cheerleader in high school and we had a powder puff football game (if you aren't aware, that's where the girls play and the guys are cheerleaders) and she talked me into being one of the cheerleaders since she would be playing. I rocked the uniform, and had a good time. Anyone else have any experiences they don't mind sharing?

As a teenager we did schoolplay of Romeo and Juliet where I was Juliet and one of the girls was Romeo. But I don't think dressing up for schoolplay really counts, it was just for fun.

It was enlightening in a way that every guys reaction seeing me as Juliet was to come to grope me and I remember thinking that "is it like this for girls?".

I crossdress all the time. All my clothes are bought from the men's section of stores.

I don't understand women's clothing. A lot of it is unnecessary, impractical, and for some reason lacks actual pockets.

Plus I think I look better in men's clothes. And, for some reason, they're also cheaper.

Honestly, I wish there were women's suits that looked as professional as a man's suit and tie. Hard to find women's professional clothing that looks more professional and not so feminine.

Serious? I always thought women had a much greater range of clothing to choose from. lol. Men's clothing can be very limited IMO.

I have yet to find women's clothing that 1) had actual pockets (not pockets barely big enough to put a mint, actual pockets), and 2) were practical like men's clothing.

By practical, I mean they are the appropriate length (example: I went shopping for a women's jacket... all of them were extremely short and did not come down to my waist, but stopped midway down my stomach. Why???); don't have some weirdly unnessessary addition like random ruffles, tassels, huge buttons that serve no purpose, random holes in the fabric, etc; and that were appropriately thick as opposed to being extremely thin for the purpose of being "layered" (aka: "We want you to buy more stuff to put under this so you can actually wear it!").

There are problems with men's clothing too, though. Just less so than I have issues with as compared with women's clothing.

^ I know what you mean.
Sometimes, it makes me wonder if the fashion industry knows what it's doing... Oh wait, never mind, it's the fashion industry. Who am I kidding?

I was never a very fashionable person. I like comfortable clothes, and sometimes I try to make the effort in making them match :p

Oh, I just remembered, sizes! I love that the vast majority of men's clothing have actual, relevant numbers on them as opposed to women's clothing.

"This says it's an "8". An "8" what, exactly? And why is this "8" in X company vastly different from that "8" in Y company?"

"Oh, look at this one, it says the waist is 32" and the length is 34". Perfect, those are my measurements!"

Sizes in women's clothes is called plausible deniability. "Yes, I know its says size 10, but really that more like a size 8.";)

Men dont have sizes on their clothes because, if they did, we would just get a dazed and confused look. We can use a tape measure (thats mandatory equipment for men) and find what size we need. :D

Nah, I think it's called stupidity from the manufacturers that is somehow tolerated by most people.

It causes women and people interested in women's clothing to waste lots of time in trying things on, because they have no idea what will fit, versus just looking at the sizes like I do (in the men's section) and taking it home, because barring an unfortunate shrinking accident in the dryer later, I know it will fit.

Sure, because women don't use the imperial or metric system to know what they need in their every day lives.

Actually, there's a reason why women's clothes are different sizes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLZ5HfZ8xnE

That was a very interesting video!

I have a problem with not being fully comfortable in men's clothing because it's not made to fit my body shape (big bust plus big hips). I end up with either tighter waist/tight bust with everything else fitting, or looser waist/bust with the rest of the pants/shirt being very large since it's all done to the same measurements.

So I get what they say about the body type vs actual size, but it still confuses me as to why we can't have the numbers reflect actual units of measurements on women's clothing.

I'm still looking for a clothing line for women that reflects what I'm looking for... but I'm sure that will be quite a long search, and runs the risk of being sold at stores that price their stuff outrageously :p

Because women's shapes vary more than mens, honestly. While the waist size may fit, it may be too tight around the rear end. If it fits the rear end, its waist is too large. My mother had that problem when she was younger and had to make most of her own clothes. Her measurements were 37-19-36 when she was young. She was a skater and had large legs and hips, but no waist.

Might be fun, idk.

Besides me masculine nose, I think I could pull off looking like a woman well, lol.

You wouldn't believe the amount of people who think I'm a guy when I walk around ^_^ The best thing is, I haven't binded in quite a while and my measurement is 36DD. You'd think people would take that as a hint!

I think it's hilarious when I hear people get into whisper arguments about my gender. They think I can't hear, and I try so hard not to double over laughing.

Some people ask nicely and I tell them. It's the people that get quietly flustered that make my day.
