  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, I am not talking about meteoroids. I am talking about humans.
As has been shown, any human can make a crop circle.

What about the aliens who started them in the first place?

Indeed. Hence my comment about those who can trample corn and those who can trample trees. It's rather sad that that comment went over your head.

The original crop circles were made by Englishmen in England. So, by definition, they were not aliens. Anyway, what about them? Are you upset that it's not an American phenomenon?

Really?
A 1678 news pamphlet The Mowing-Devil: or, Strange News Out of Hartfordshire is claimed by some crop circle devotees [who?] to be the first depiction of a crop circle.

An article in an English paper about some crops in England which had been cut? Who do you think would be the most likely culprit?

America as a country didn't exist then, so it couldn't have been one of your countrymen. Does that bother you?

Citation please?
You'll need to consult the parish registers from Hatfield for that time. If you can't find Thomas Scythe, perhaps you could look for Mowing Devil. It's not a particularly English sounding name, but I'm sure you'll find a record somewhere if he existed.

Failing that, let's go with the most plausible explanation - it was an Englishman whose name was not recorded.

How about I simplify this and consult you, since you seem to know him?

Where did you get his name?

I made it up - although there have been several men named Thomas Scythe in England, at least one of whom was from around Hatfield but not at that time. Just as you made up the claim of aliens. Do you have a problem with that?
