  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'v never paid any attention to gauge...course I don't pay much attention to any pattern I might be using. I just kinda wing my way through.
Gauge is only really important when you are making clothing -- you want to be sure it comes out the right size. Just about anything else you can fudge.

maybe that's it. I've never been to big on making clothing.
hah yeah...neither have I. I pretty much never check gauge unless I'm changing yarn/hook. I probably should make it a habit. I guess I'm in too much of a hurry to get a project done. Or I dont' care what size it comes out.

And purses. :)

I once started a sweater and didn't check my gauge. It was huge! I ended up making a lapghan out of it. :D

Yeah. Actually one of the ladies at work asked me to make a bag type thing for her.

I like purses, it's hard to mess them up.

I'd really like to try a felted purse.

Wow! I posted once 3 yrs ago and never came back -yikes!! ROFL :)

I'm still crocheting - right now I'm working on some amugurumi animals with my SD to share with a guy who's sister will take them to Taiwan with her for a poor village's babies and kids. Blankets take me forever to finish so this is a nice change and I can still help!!

I seem to be on a baby blanket making binge. I delivered a yellow one 2 weeks ago to a friend at church for her grandson, delivered another one this past Sunday for another friend's yet to be born grandson (the shower was moved from yesterday to next week, but I will be away for a wedding) have a third one to mail to our former pastor's daughter for her first son (what's with all the boys??) and a fourth one on the hook that is currently earmarked for Project Linus.

ROFL - I don't know...must be a year for boys cuz 3 outta 4 birth announcements I've gotten through Yahoo groups are boys too!

I finished the blanket I was working on but I'm not happy with it as it's narrower on one end. I'm embarrassed to give it away :(

I'm doing much better with the amugurumi animals. Except for the eyes, I've done a bear and a cat.

that's so great! My SD is 16 and just learning so she's a bit frustrated; but she's not doing so badly. I started the rows for her and she was able to keep her stitches very similar.

I also found an alternate option for my blankets that don't work out so nicely...a local animal rescue can use them - woohoo!! Now I don't feel AS bad!! LOL

Glad you found a home for the "boo-boo" blanket ;)

If your SD keeps practicing she'll be whipping out things before you know it. The tough thing for me is keeping DD out of my stash!! (she can get into the leftovers, but she wants the full skeins I have earmarked for something already)

ROFL - well, I haven't had that problem...yet! We got a lot of yarn from a lady who was just giving it away so at the moment there's extra for her to learn on. I agree that once she gets the hang of it she can be very busy!!

We have several things to stay busy for with several charity projects....baby items, scarves and mittens, squares to send off, and now the pet items. I'm so excited! :D

I recently learned to crochet.
I tried to make a hat for my daughter but it came out too big, so I made her a smaller one. I also made her a purse. Here they are:
