Hi All, Hi Barbrajean,

Sorry I have not got back to you. This last week has been very stressful, I got a phone call tonight from my sister to say that my father was admitted to ICU and was in renal failure. We thought he was going to die, but Praise God, he is doing much better.

I will get back to you all about the baby booties, I managed to follow one pattern, and my friend say's that it looks OK, but I am not so sure, I am a perfectionist.

Anyway, thank you for your kind offer.

Prayers for you dad. I know how scary that can be. My sweet mother had a mild heart attack recently so I understand how much it concerns us when we're faced with the thought of losing a parent.

I've never heard of those! Where do you find them?

Look in the quilting department of a craft store or in a yarn shop -- lots of knitters use them. You can order them from Herrschner's (sp??) as well.

I'm hoping that the prayer shawl I made last month ( ) will be ready to deliver soon. Yesterday a friend was taking it to the school she teaches at to give the Christian club there a chance to be involved. As for the person the shawl is for -- they finally decided she has asthma. They started getting that under control and she came down with shingles! Yikes! I'll bet she will be glad to see 2006 come to an end.

Carebear now looks like a bear --the head/body piece is done, the neck shaping is done, the muzzle, ears, tummy patch and one arm are sewn in place. I just might get this done by the weekend.

I hope your friends get better quickly. I've heard that shingles can be pretty miserable!

Kind of a stupid question, but how do you work with thread without your hands getting stiff? I have trouble with my hands getting stiff when I use regular yarn.

I think that the muscles in your hands build up over time. As for my hands getting stiff with thread, I have found that once I have a nice even (tight) tension that my hands do not get as stiff.

Let me start out by saying - I can't take credit for this little crocheted darling. And he is much more adorable than you can tell in the picture. I came across him today at a Flea Market and my hubby bought him for me.

He is made of a very delicate and silky thread. It's something I've not worked with and I'm not even sure if I've ever seen this kind of thread.

Look closely at the bag slung over his shoulder. There are 3 crocheted gifts in the bag. And he's wearing a cloak over his gown. I just fell in love with him.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Here's a cute story about mine.
My husband had a business luncheon in Asheville and spouses were invited. We took the kids along because they didn't want to stay home alone for 8 hours. So while I was treated to a lovely grilled chicken dinner and a 2 1/2 hour talk about paint spray guns , the kids went to TGIFridays for pizza then hung out in the comfy chairs in the lobby. JJ had taken a book to dive into and El took her newest crochet project - a CareBear (we are sharing the pattern until I get mine done ). While she was working away on it 2 ladies came over to see what she was making, asked where she got the pattern, how long has she been crocheting,
etc and complimented her on her work. She was beaming with pride when we came out of the meeting and she told us about the encounter. Now she has decided that after she finishes Bedtime Bear she is going to make Good Luck Bear - she even bought the yarn yesterday! I think I have created a monster, but as long as she stays out of my stash it's ok.

Ah, maybe you'll be able to get her leftovers to add to your stash. But... if she's anything like most crocheters she's going to want to start her own stash! Then you'll have to buy a storage building to store your stash and hers too!
