Mom and I came up with the idea that I'm going to try and crochet things, probably granny square afghans, with designs and such on them, instead of one straight pattern all the way around then sell them on ebay. I hope things work out.

Yes, it would be great if you could make some money from your crocheting.

Have you seen my flag afghan? I've sold 4 of them for the charity. I got $50 for two of them, $60 for one and $75 for another. I tried to sell it on ebay with a starting bid of $50 and it didn't get any bids.

I haven't tried anything else since then.

The pattern is in a pattern book I have. There are several other patterns in the book for thread ornaments. I'll see if I can find the name of the book and post it.

I don't think you can ever have too many patterns.

My daughter took the finished prayer shawl to youth group tonite and gave it to Sam who passed it along to his wife Carrie. Carrie will take charge of getting the fringe knotted. She loved the way it turned out. I used Homespun's Tudor print and it came out in bands of color.

The shawl for Jane is more than half done. Along with getting the youth to tie knots, I'm going to corner the choir director and see it he can get members to tie knots without Jane knowing (she sings when she can). This one is in a lovely shade of blue (colonial) and Jane loves the color blue.

I've also been playing with some patterns for thread Easter egg covers. I'm thinking of filling a few plastic eggs for some of my little buddies at church and slipping them in the covers (they have drawstring tops so you can put the eggs in and out easily). Some of the ones I want to do are for the larger eggs (goose egg size) so I may have to buy a few of those at the dollar store. I have the chicken egg size.

Hi, I love to crochet! I'm self-taught, though, so if a pattern isn't written for a complete dummy, sometimes I have trouble following it. Maybe next time I'll come here and borrow some smarts...

LOL! I'm self taught too..what LANGUAGE do they write those patterns in?!? We need a book..the Idiots guide to crochet patterns

oh my goodness, I was kidding. And now, I'm ready to go out and look for that book! I can't knit to save my life though so I took up Cross Stitching for when I get tired of the crochet. My grandmother tried to teach me also but I just couldn't get it. After I had my 1st child something made me try again and I've been crocheting baby blankets ever since. I'll have to get the book and try to do something new!

Crochet is fairly easy, once you get the basics down. I taught myself using a learn to book. there are lots of them on the market and there are websites that can help you learn too. Try stitchguide.com as a place to start.

Crocheting is pretty easy. Once you learn the single crochet and chain stitch it's all basicly varriations of the same stitch. Unless you wanna get into the really fancy professional stuff. (uk!)

And it's very enjoyable. Especially when you're like several people here and are self taught. It brings a special satisfaction that you did something new all by yourself. = D

How did I learn? My boyfriend taught me the basics. I learned more complicated stuff just by reading patterns and trying new things.

Is it easy? Some of it is very easy. When you've learned the easier things you can always move on to some more difficult stitches and patterns.

I'm working on the poncho my grandma gave me the yarn for. We recently took a trip to grandma's house and she had some more yarn. So, I'm working on that now. And I have planned to crocheting my mom a stuffed dolphin for her birthday.

I finished the Lumberjack throw -- hated the edging so I just reverse sc it. Looked more manly.

Since I haven't made it to a yarn shop yet I started working on a doily called "Pretty Kitties". It is in one of the Annie's Attic magazines. It is also very easy--working #10 cotton on a "B" hook. I'm thinking of mounting it in a ring as a windowhanging for my sister.

When it is finished (probably later today) I am going to play with an "INRI square" pattern I found. I will try to do it in thread, fillet style. If it works to a decent size I will frame it for the youth pastor for Easter.

I hope to have lots of time to play with the hooks this weekend (I have lots of thread stashed I can use up). It will be cold and it is race weekend. We usually hide at the house out of the crazies in traffic. The kids even get out of school early on Friday because it is pole day. My son will be at the track with the 5th graders--an annual outing one of the teachers organizes. They get to watch practice and qualifying, using stop watches and their math skills to see if they can figure out the speeds and placements. They also have been studying the laws of motion and will see how they are put into use at the track. The main idea of the day is to show the kids how stuff they learn in school can be used outside of the classroom.

You really do get so much done! I need to spend less time here and more time crocheting!
