  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I crochet in the winter, it gets too warm in the summer to chrochet.

I mostly crochet blankets. The one I was working on is a scrap afghan with different square's of different styles.
Kinda neet pattern book - helps you practice what you already know and to learn new patterns.

Well, I got tired  of the baby blanket so I bopped over to http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php and copied off a bunch of bookmark patterns. Now I am merrily stitching up a bunch to set back as last minute gifts and enjoying the "instant gratification" that comes from a quickly completed project. ^_^

haha..yeah I make a lot of small things. I'm working on a preemie baby cap now (if I can only find my hook!) because I wanted something small I could take with me places and it doesn't take long. I've never made anything larger than a baby blanket.

Thanks for the address. I too sometimes get bogged down when I start big projects.

I want 2 learn...I wish someone would teach...

A) visit a local yarn shop and see if they offer classes or know a crocheter who teaches. Also check library, community center etc.

B) buy a "teach yourself " book or video. One nice thing about a lot of the books is they show left handed as well as right handed directions.

C) buy a size H or I hook, grab a skein of worsted weight yarn, in a light color and go to stitchguide.com.

Talk about the stuff we crocheters get hooked into! Not only do I have a huge afghan to make in a month (getting yarn today), I now have to make a bunch of fish that can hold 2 coins for the Saturday before Father's Day! I found a pattern in an old Annie's Crochet Newsletter for stuffed fish in worsted weight. I am doing them unstuffed in #10 thread and adding a metal nut so they can be picked up by a magnet. My husband may get artistic and decorate them with fabric paint--I figure the thread work will be enough for me to do.

Off to the fish pond!
