  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Still working on my third Prayer shawl (gggrrr). DH has been gone and the boys are really up my tail this week. My next venture is going to be trying to make a crochet cast net!!! hehehe we've been doing a WHOLE lot of fishing, and I just KNOW I can make one.

Lol. Cool.

I've been curious about the prayer shawls. What exactly are they? Other than shawls.

Read through the Prayer Shawl thread. There is some interesting info and links there. I posted a pic of my first shawl there also!

I have finished 5 1/2 out of 6 little fish for husband's church project and am 3 skeins into a 9 skein (8oz size) afghan. Unfortunately, it is starting to get hot which will make the afghan an unwelcome chore at times, but I need to have it done by June 26. It is a wedding gift.

Celticflower, dig out your fan, aim it from the side into your lap, but not your face, see if that helps. I think anyone who has done afghans knows, they can get HOT! They are usually winter work for me.

It can definitely get hot when you're crocheting something in your lap. But it's hard to put it down too.:)

I got a warm fuzzy in the mail yesterday! A couple of weeks ago I had mailed an afghan to my cousin for her newly adopted 1 yr old daughter and had included one for her older (6?) son as well. Turns out he absolutely loves his new blanket! He loves to snuggle in blankets, but this was the first one that was just for him. His mom says she finds him all wrapped up in it when she goes to wake him in the morning <g>.

So remember-- new big brothers/sisters need gifts too!

You know, I'm amazed at the life of this thread. There have been several threads started about crocheting but this is the first I've seen with so many replies. It's great to keep in contact with you all.

Hi...I just found your thread,I haven't been a member for very long but i also love to crochet and knitting too.I have been doing both for too many years to remember. 50 at least.....I was taught by an aunt, then didn't do any for ten years or so then got married and discovered i could do jumpers and things for my babies. So i really got into it. I do find that here in Australia the sizes of the needles and hooks are totally different. I am doing a latch hook rug at the moment,It's 8 feet by 6 feet...it's big...but i love doing it and it doesn't matter how long it takes....I started it end of february, and I've done nearly a quarter of it...all because I refused to pay nearly 1000 dollars for a bought one and I couldn't get the colours I wanted.....good eh? that will do for now,,,but anytime I can help I'm here too,,,don't forget...I'm not on very often but I do check it out now and then...love and blessings:wave:
