  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Critical Connections in Scriptures

Given:
Num. 21:8 -- “Then the LORD told Moses to make a metal snake and put it on a pole, so that any one who was bitten could look at it and be healed
John 3:14 -- “As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life
Ibid, 19:37--“People will look at him whom they pierced.” (Quoting Zech. 12:10)
Question:
Is the exact “source of eternal life”, with clear precedents, followed or disregarded today?

Talking of snakes in the desert ,you have to realize that Hezekiah destroyed the bronze snake because people ended up worshiping the snake ( 2 Kings 18).

You might need to think about that.

Give you last post/comment - what then is 'the most critical' piece of scripture?
The most critical piece of Scriptures, a.k.a., the “key to God’s secret”, is found at the climax of a long development starting from “In the beginning” and ending at “It is finished”.
The latter refers to Christ’s crucifixion-based works of self-revelation in terms of “God’s life-giving Spirit” in his verifiably characteristic, perfect, Spirit-active and diacritical death (“a slain Lamb standing in the middle of the throne and active with the wisdom and power of God”) complete with vision and knowledge of God in Christ’s procreative image and glory!
Here is a bird’s eye view.
Proactive references: Gen. 1:1, 27; 2: 7-9; Ex. 3: 1-15; Jer. 31: 31-34; Zech. 12:10; Matt. 26: 26-29; 27: 50-56; John 19: 30-37;
Retroactive references: Luke 24: 25-49; Acts 1: 1-5; 2; 9; Col. 2: 1-3; Heb. 1: 1-3; Rev. 5
It works!

Yep - sounds like your worshipping scripture, or is it that for you Jesus still remains nailed to the cross?

I did warn you that perhaps you needed to think about the matter a little more deeply.

God forbid!

Inspired Scriptures make the clear distinction between word-based means or claims and work-based end or hard proof, i.e., God's self-revelation in person.

Be it Jews, Christians, or members of any other religion, Scripture-worshippers will never come to the actual "source of life", i.e., life of the self-sufficient type, a.k.a., "I Am Who I Am" or everlasting "Father" in Christ's verifiably perfect and diacritical death (cum birth) on the cross as "the first and the last" according to the Scriptures (Ex. 3: 1-15; Isa. 9:6-7; John 5: 39-40; 8: 21-28; 19: 30-37; Rev. 1: 17-18).

It is not the Scriptures (the means) which I worship but the living Christ in his self-revelation (the end) to me personally. I praise God for that! It is a promise to the whole world (John 3: 14-17). AMEN.
