Show me 1 command to celebrate birthdays or to take showers? If you cant show it, then it's a tradition of man. (mirroring your line of respect and reasoning)

Who says I celebrate birthdays?

Read it carefully. It talks about the food and drink and things connected to the feast days, new moon and the weekly sabbath days, not the sabbath, new moon and feast days themselves.

What does this have to do with Dec. 25th and the traditions associated with it??

Jesus celebrated the Jewish Tradition of observing the cleansing of the Temple...
...Scripture calls it 'The Feast of the Dedication' & you will not find any commandments to observe it.
...Given that Jesus said He was greater than the Temple do you find Occult themes in celebrating Jesus' birth?

Was that also the day of atonement?

No, 25 Kislev ( December ) for Hannukah....
...D.O.A. = 10 Tishrei, ( September or October ).

The SDA rubric of 22 October 1844 was supposed to sync with the 7th Month, 10th day D.O.A....
...This is why the movement Ellen was part of was called the 7th Month Midnight Cry movement.

What I'm saying is that if Christ observed the dedication of the cleansing of the Temple ( from the Macc time-hack )...
...And Jesus explicitly stated that He was greater than the Temple.
...Why would you find it odd that Christians would celebrate Jesus' birthday given that He is greater than the Temple.
...And Jesus celebrated the cleansing of the Temple?

Why don't we celebrate His baptism, the start of His ministry? Maybe we could pick a day like, say, Oct. 31st... we could dress up in costumes and go around taking candy from people as a symbol of us taking the gift of salvation from the giver of all gifts... wouldn't that be great! I'm sure Jesus would be pleased....

The 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December.

The Feast of the Dedication starts on 25 Kislev...
...According to the Jewish Liturgical ( Religious ) Calendar.
...25 Kislev can start anytime from late Nov to late December ( Gregorian ).
...They are two different calendars.

D.O.A. is the 10 day of the 7th Month ( Jewish Liturgical Calendar ).

Why don't we celebrate His baptism,

Catholics do, it's called the Feast of the Baptism.

Celebrated on Jan 8 of this year.

Couldn't find anything on the Church Feast Calendar for a celebration for the Start of Jesus' ministry...
...It's a great idea however ECR!

HMMM---I always suspected that Christ was born on Oct. 31----it would be just like that old devil to take Christ's birthday and make it into a celebration to him, and take one of his pagan holidays and mix it up with some jolly fat man passing out presents!! What a con job!!

If Christmas is anti-Jesus, does that make Halloween anti-Satan? All those kids dressing up in cute costumes and eating candy isn't very devilish.

Ironic you'd say something about taking more than the given understanding, give you believe 7 days = 6 Billion years. Just saying.

Stryder if you start a thread on creation days, you can show me that seven days are referenced to earth days.

No need Crib. The thread was already made and you simply won't admit to what you're implying. You go on about us using "commentary" and not sticking with the plain word of God, and yet, when the scripture says plainly that the Lord created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, and rested on the 7th, you say 6 billion. God said He did it in 6 and rested 7. That should settle it.

So yeah, you can expect me to bring that up every time you say something about commentary.

wow...

and it happened again... actually I dunno what the intention behind this thread was but it resulted again in some sort of debate about know things.

My take on christmas, I hate it, I dont celebrate it, and I feel lonely on christmas, when I think about all those people meeting up, having dinner together, spending time with each other, and nothing is going on for me. I guess thats why I hate it otherwise it would be all the same for me... hope I find a girlfriend soon...

You make my point perfectly... the holiday has nothing to do with a celebration of Christ's birth, it is just a cluster of traditions wrapped in a quasi religious garb.

I get it, your doctrine depends on seven literal day.

Like I explained before...I believe in seven literal days, but not in reference to the sun and moon of earth.
If you can prove that the earth sun and moon were present on the first day, please do it, and I'll have to reconsider everything.

(With respect to this thread why dont you just refresh that other thread, and we can revisit what each verse in Gen 1 says.)

If you just want to argue what definition of english translated words, you'll never understand God's how vast creation is.

So yeah, you can expect me to bring that up every time you say something about commentary.
Go ahead make my day.

I suppose Christmas doesn't seem to be about Christ to Adventists. Understandable since you all don't go have an Advent season leading up to the holiday, or go to church on Christmas like most Christians.
