  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In research (based on a footnote in my Bible), I found out that Epimenides is the one quoted. And according to his letter, Paul is encouraging Titus to teach his people the truth and rebuke the false teachers, of his time. So, I don't think he's saying that all Cretans really are "liars, lazy, and evil," just that the false teachers are making the quote stand out.

Yet Pharisee Paul states "This witness is true."

Why are you posting numbers?
I suspect some people do so because they are interested in inflating their post count numbers. I don't see the point in this though.

Anyways, on-topic I wanted to say that this is good puzzle for me! I personally have no idea :( Maybe Paul was just referring to a statement? It would be out of ordinary for him to accuse like that?
Paul was affirming that the Cretan philosopher's assessment of Cretans was correct. Seems pretty straightforward to me!
