  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Since a few people have mentioned it, what is all this about not having a body at the end? Do people believe that we will be bodily resurrected like Christ was? Does the Bible say that we will?

All I've ever seen is that we will be given a glorified spiritual body. I've never read about the flesh being resurrected.

just flawed human thinking...the idea that if the body is not intact, then God couldn't bring you back from the dead.

I'm personally not a big fan of cremation as I'd much rather be buried, but I've heard there are some who believe it is wrong. Is it and is there any scripture that speaks to this?

:preach:Most people who are against cremation point to the fact that the Bible says that one day the dead in Christ will rise. Genesis 3:19 states, however, "...for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art , and unto dust shalt thou return."

If you're buried you will become dust; if you're cremated, you'll become dust, it'll just happen faster. Jesus can obviously put us back together, and then change us and give us perfect bodies.:amen:

This is a common misconception about heaven. Most believe that having a physical body is evil, but this is not true. We were created to live in physical bodies at the beginning in the Garden of Eden, and the New Earth will be a return to what this world was meant to be.

Do some study on 2 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Revelation 21. Also, read the book "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn.

As for whether cremation is okay or not, read Genesis 3:19. We're dust and are just going to become dust again, it will just happen faster with cremation. So, there's nothing wrong with it. We will be resurrected PHYSICALLY, but cremation will not prevent it.

As far as a resurrected body we can learn from Jesus

Jesus with his resurrected body
flesh and bones no blood

Luk 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Luk 24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Luk 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Luk 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luk 24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

Genesis Chapter 3

19. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.

My possible understanding is that there is nothing wrong with cremation as long as someone returns the ashes to the ground.

I doubt Christ would want a dead body, even if were in ashes inside a container, to remain in someone’s house in an urn.

Deuteronomy Chapter 4

16. Lest ye corrupt [yourselves], and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

Deuteronomy Chapter 5

8. Thou shalt not make thee [any] graven image, [or] any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the waters beneath the earth:

One must ask themselves 2 questions: Why would God be against a graven image? From my understanding reading the scriptures…

Exodus Chapter 34

14. For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous God:

Makes perfect sense. The Lord God Almighty had spent 6 days creating Earth, & for people to worship & give thanks someone/something else besides Him, God would have every right to be upset. It's not possible for man to worship children…

Genesis Chapter 22

1. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, [here] I [am].

2. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only [son] Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

11. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here [am] I.

12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son] from me.

15. And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16. And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son]:

17. That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

One of many of reasons why the Perfect One ordered this is because He wanted man to love Him above all people & things. 2nd question: If you keep an urn in your house, what purpose does it serve?

I'd rather be cremated... I don't want people digging me up one day and putting me in a museum or something. All the ancient people that we have dug up and put on display would be horrified if they knew, they would feel violated. It's only the modern atheistic mentality that allows people to do such a thing, atheists rationalize it away saying they don't exist anymore and that they were stupid and silly, therefore it doesn't matter, when in fact it's completely ghoulish and a violation of people's natural rights to dig them up and put them on display.
