  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Someone from outside didn't just waltz in. A represenative of the Government that granted this institution a tax exempt status wants to ensure that the laws governing tax exempt entities are doing what they are supposed to be. (I know that is a little idealistic, but ideally that is what is happening here) If you want the government's stamp of approval, you have to play by their rules, regardless of how screwed up they are.
Yeah and when churches start speaking out against crooked politicians or abortion or homosexuality they also will stick their nose in too.
As well as there are laws (that didn't get passed yet) Thank God that would prohibit preachers from speaking out against such things or risk being imprisioned for "hate crimes"..that's right hate crimes. Just for speaking thus saith the Lord!

I don't think when the laws were established that they ever expected churches to grow so large and have so much money coming in....

Plus, I heard him say that is he responding to a lot of complaints from people....Christians and Non-Christians.

They need to just go along with it. The government does have the right to look into this. Accountability is for all, none of us are above it. God is the only one who does not have to answer to anyone..the only one.....

A gift is not a gift, there are responsible gifts and irresponsible ones. There is a huge difference betweening buying someone something like a $1000 dinner and paying off someone's debt of $1000. The latter is more likely to be a responsible gift.

What is responsible to one person is not to another. Let's look at another example. Newspapers talk horribly about people who have a one million dollar home if they believe the owner has done something wrong. People gasp if they think a minister has a one million dollar home. Now, a 1 million dollar home in some rural areas of the country will buy a home that has several thousand square feet. But a 1 million dollar home in Manhattan will buy you 500 square feet - literally. It's all relative to the circumstances. You can't say one is more responsible than the other.

Well, I for one thinks it looks rather bigoted. Six national ministries were targeted, and they are all so-called 'prosperity preachers'. What if the six national ministries were all black ministers, or just baptist ministers?

I see smoke here. And it is the smoke of bigotry.

Peace...

That relation doesn't hold across different things. For instance food costs across the US (and cars for that matter) do not swing nearly as widely as real estate prices. If you told me a minister was given $100 by some poor Mexicans living in rural Mexico, I would have a huge issue with a minister accepting that, however if it were in San Diego it would be much different.

Some of them were black, the point here is concerning abuse of tax exempt status, why go after some people that don't appear to be abusing it?

You know what? I think we are going to have to agree to disagree. But, since I'm the girl, I'm right. :p

Well, these guys are moving A LOT of $ around...A LOT of it! Personally, I appreciate the fact that someone is asking them to prove their accountability with it. Eddie Long has a credit union, for crying out loud.

Expressing one's accountability through someone on their payroll or under their sphere of influence isn't as respectable as expressing it through someone you have "no control" over.

I don't think Sen. Grassley is an enemy or a liar...he's a Christian, too. If there's any man in a relatively trustworthy position capable of handling this accountability...its probably him.

And all these arguments about "God's money"...bah...who's picture is on it?

I may have missed it, but I didn't hear anyone say anything about 'Gods money'. But if they did, then you have a good point.

I think you missed my point entirely.

On the other hand, in regards to this statement, of the six minitries targeted, I listen to three, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland, and Joyce Meyer. I've never really felt a witness in my spirit about the other three.

However, the annual salaries of these three are all less than the $400,000.00+ annual salary of Billy Graham. Why wasn't he sent a letter? Could it be, as I've said, that it is the prosperity doctrine that they are after, not the use of the money itself?

Do you really want the government going after a particular set of ministries because they don't like their doctrine?

Peace...

Yes, I don't think anything is wrong with this. The government does set the laws that they had to abide by in the first place.

Another thing is that these people are still human at the end of the day..Full of faults and weaknesses and have not arrived to perfection as anybody has not yet..

I see why Jesus said, "Follow me"..

Keep your eyes off man and keep them on Jesus, people will fail you and disappoint you...They are supposed to, they are flesh....

I saw something so disturbing to me about Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. But, you know what. I am not surprised.

He also is refusing I hear. This makes them look extremely guilty.

I am more than sure that they spend God's money on things they should not, more than sure they ALL do.

What, pray tell? I have been watching them for over ten years, I have yet to hear anything disturbing from them.

Do you think Paul made himself look guilty by refusing to have his case heard by Festus in Jerusalem?

Really? I'm glad that you are so knowledgable about their finances. What should they not spend money on? What am I missing here?

Peace...

Well, since you have been following them..I am sure you know.

Besides, this is serious but not that serious as far as I am concerned because I am not worshiping any of these people..and realize that they all are not perfect. I don't feel the need to defend any of them. God will bring to light that which is hidden....

That is really all I have to say about that.....( In Forrest Gumps ):D

Sounds like what Dollar is asking for is that they go through the proper channels that the government itself set up.

But then too what Dollar is not realizing is that the US Government reserves the right to break it's own laws when it so desires.
