• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Creationists, what do the worlds universities know that creationists don't?

You must tire easily then.

I use the term "you guys" because I can't remember exactly who says what.

And for you to get tired of me, and not your 'unrelated siblings' here, shows selectivity.
I tire of everyone that twists the words of others in a dishonest manner regardless of who they are actually. Though in my experiences here I have noted that you do it to my words a heck of a lot more often than others do. Pretty much all other creationists here are perfectly honest and straightforward and don't twists the words of others. You seem to revel in it.

As for you not being able to keep track of who says what that is not my problem. Don't accuse me of saying things or ascribing to certain views because you're unable to keep track.

Uh-huh.

That's probably because I talk to you a heck of a lot more than others -- I dunno.

Others might back down from you spouting your science -- I won't.

And for only having 614 posts, newbie, you're in for a doosey of a ride.

I suggest you get rid of that short fuse and chip on your shoulder, or you'll be miserable here.

I'll make sure of that.

it is stereotyping and bigotry thats why
Stereotyping maybe. Bigotry? AV doesn't demonstrate animosity towards me or view himself as superior to me as far as I can see. I don't see him as a bigot.

He is still being a serious ass when he just assumes everyone on here with an agnostic or atheist icon behave in the same way and hold exactly the same views. I don't do that with him and the other creationists in here so why must he do that with me and the others he groups? His behaviour demonstrates a lack of basic respect for all those he seeks to group together like that.

I don't expect people to back down. In fact I admire those that can formulate a good counter-argument and strike back. I just expect to be dealt with honestly without word twisting and misrepresentations.

The word twisting and misrepresentations isn't "not backing down". It is just plain dishonesty. Regardless of who you are or what you believe you really shouldn't be behaving like that.

I'm being honest with you here and instead of addressing this maturely you're throwing it back in my face with responses like "uh-huh". What the hell man?

And for only having 614 posts, newbie, you're in for a doosey of a ride.
My post count or lack thereof does not make my point any less valid.

Wonderful. I ask you to engage in an honest and straightforward manner and this is what I get.

We'd all have a post-count like yours if we played in counting threads all day. Is your post-count the only thing you're proud of in your life? Because you reference it whenever you can.

What's the matter? you don't like being lumped in with the other Internet scientists here?

That speaks volumes.

Of course there are religious universities out there teaching all kinds of rubbish, I could even set up the UFSM that tells students the FSM is the one true God, it might have university in the title but it would be anything but a university.
I am talking about UNIVERSITIES not myth schools and diploma mills.

I once heard a theology degree likened to a degree in 'Books by Charles Dickens'.

My stepson attended NGU, a SB school...I assure you, that it does not teach "rubbish".He got a quality education.
Is Notre Dame a "myth school" or a "diploma mill"?
Be careful of generalizations...they are generally wrong.

My friend, I don't do anything here 'honestly' -- and the sooner you learn that, the better.
Why not?

What is so bad about just discussing something in a straightforward manner?

I'm being quite serious here when I say I always thought that Christians were supposed to do their best to be honest in every aspect of their lives. Knowingly misrepresenting things and twisting words to avoid topics or annoy people just doesn't seem to fit.

Because you gu... they think Jesus was a liar, so, by association, they must think we're liars as well.
Nobody can prevent you from believing what you believe. It is your own personal choice and nobody else has any say in that.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that people here think Jesus was a liar. Maybe some do but I'd wager that most just don't accept his divinity. They don't share your belief. So what? That is no reason to start purposefully misrepresenting people.

BTW "they" is getting better but still a needless generalisation. Who are "they" exactly? Can you name names?

Jesus didn't lie, the people who wrote the bible lied about Jesus.

And i don't think your a liar, just willfully ignorant and gullible.

Although you do repeat falsehoods even though they have been shown to be false.

Who could say jesus was a liar? We have to take it on "faith" that someone wrote down verbatim what he had supposedly said, what, 20 years later? 60? who knows?

I'm not going to make a Johari window of who says/doesn't say // believes/doesn't believe what.

That would tie forums up in needless chatter.

Instead, I use the term 'you guys' and let that subset of posters -- who know who they are -- respond.

The only one who needs to be happy with this Greg is you, you seem to be pleased so we're all pleased for you, I am anyway.

Actually, that's the way it works. Intelligence is the property capable of building the Great Pyramid. It is through faith that you believe intelligence did build it. A magnetic field is the property capable of turning a given compass needle. It is through faith that you believe it did happen this way. Even n the case of Darwinian evolution where the mechanism is somehow shown to be viable in producing organisms, it is through faith that you believe it did happen this way. Evidence for Darwinian evolution would be given through referencing the potency of long-term random mutations, not showing video evidence that it did happen this way.

Likewise, intelligence is the property capable of building the present and increasing complexity found in the physical human, evidence for the potency of that mechanism was already given. As stated in all aforementioned cases, it is through faith that it did happen this way. No special conditions are required.

Sorry your argumen which boils down to "everything requires faith so my religion is just as tenable as science" is just rubbish.
