Why would we need to invoke a miracle when simple mathematics will do?

You do realize that starting with a population of 6 and with a population doubling time of 150 years, that means that at the time of the Tower of Babel (339 years Post-Flood) there was only 15 or 16 people in the world, right?

Highlight the 'probables' on any paper on evolution and watch it turn yellow.

I was actually hoping dad would give some concrete evidence..all you did was move the goal posts.

So it takes two people 150 years to have four kids?
If you have the right group, you can do it in two years; less if there are any twins. Jack and Mary have two kids. Now there's four of them. Population doubled. Jack and Mary have two more kids before they die. Each of their children do the same. Population just doubled again.

No offense intended, but saying that 6 people could only reach a population of 24 in 300 years is probably the silliest thing I've ever read.

I admit no such thing.

Requesting you to lift a 3-ton dump truck with your bare hands in no way signifies that I believe you can actually accomplish such a task.

Have you picked a scientific paper on evolution yet?

Not yet, but I'll try to find one.

If something is not backed by evidence it is not included in the ToE or any science for that matter.

History might have a few probabilities or assumptions but even they are usually backed by some kind of evidence that prompts those assumptions.
Assumptions like, three hundred years ago because oil and wax was so expensive ordinary people usually went to bed when it got dark or sat talking by the fire or in the dark or outside in the moonlight.

Can we agree that evidence, while convincing to some, is not proof.

What conditions are those? Would those conditions have been in existence following the Flood?

I would think so.

Human Death and Decay - HowStuffWorks

From the link,

'The environment in which a dead body is placed also affects its rate of decay. For instance, bodies in water decompose twice as fast as those left unburied on land. Decomposition is slowest underground -- especially in clay or other solid substances that prevent air from reaching the body since most bacteria require oxygen to survive.'

I have a feeling that no amount of evidence would stop you believing whatever you wanted to believe.
You have made up your mind and you're not going to let a little thing like evidence get in the way.

Tell you what, Chuckles, since you seem to be so confident...

Take these equations and calculate how many people would be alive 300 years after the flood during the Tower of Babel. Check again 600 years after the flood for the population during the Exodus. Check 2400 years after the flood for the population at the time of Jesus. Do those calculations and then let us know how confident you are.

All of the "for all we know" s ,suggestions and "It may also have been"s is not exactly concrete evidence.
Great so all science models are out the window. You are starting to get it. They basically say, 'for all we know the past was the same, and...yada yada yada blah blah ad nausea..'

Care to back up your hypotheses with something more solid?
Try to fit whatever you cook up with the facts of the record given by God. I do. Therefore the different state past could have had the sort of rapid population mechanisms in place that you try to diss.

The evidence is too incomplete. Show me the rest of the fossils, the ones that didn't make the cut.

See my different state past thread. It was my first thread when I was a new, young and naive poster 6 months ago.

It wasn't Queller's suggestion. SpyderByte proposed a blog post that had an population growth rate which would put the population close to where it currently is right now 4,500 after the alleged flood. The problem is that this same equation doesn't quite comport with reality when you apply it to other times - for instance, as Queller pointed out, that same formula would have the Earth populated by only 16 people at the time the tower of Babel was built.

And that's the reason that people who actually do this sort of stuff for a living don't use flat growth rates to calculate such things.

This is a very interesting question that ties into the blessing of Abraham Christians are suppose to inherit, the most descendants. The most descendants award goes to the a chines or Asian in general if you add India. As a world population they have more than 2/3s, so they must have started after the flood or were they there all along, just descendants of CHainA in the land of wandering! GOD must love them so much that Buddhism or Hinduism is God's true religion. Correct me if I'm wrong. Please.

I will state that Buddhism is not China's major religion.

You know as well as I do your beliefs have nothing to do with evidence.
You didn't need evidence to make you believe so no amount of evidence will make you stop believing.
You are where you are {religion wise} because it's where you want to be.

That is not universally true: I don't want to be an atheist.

Evidence appeals to the brain, which is part of the body, and can only be satisfied by empirical data.

Atheism & Agnosticism are spiritual problems, and can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ.
