So you're saying that the sun is stationary and it is the earth that is moving? How do you know this? Scientists no longer believe in the 'ether' we believe in Einstein's relativity and the affect of the observer in experiments. Just because the sun is the most massive body in the solar system does that make it the centre?Jase said:How about God stopping the sun for a day for Joshua? The sun doesn't revolve around the Earth, so the sun wouldn't be what God stops

I'm sorry I fail to see what gravity has to do with this. Gravity is not a one way force.random guy said:Well, gravity is obviously only a theory. If it was proven, it would be a fact. Since it's not proven, Kepler is wrong.
I said the Sun doesn't revolve around the Earth. The Sun's gravitational pull is what holds the earth in orbit, but that isn't what the verse about Joshua's day is referring to. The Earth revolves around the sun, which is where we get our years and seasons. The Earth rotates on it's own axis in relation to the sun, which is where we get night and day. The sun does not move in relation to the rest of the solar system. The Solar System moves around the sun.RichardT said:...... Yes the Sun Does Revolve the earth
The sun may move within our galaxy, I'm not sure about that, but all the planets orbit around the sun. If the Earth wasn't moving, we wouldn't have Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring.Markus6 said:So you're saying that the sun is stationary and it is the earth that is moving? How do you know this? Sure we would, the sun just has to move up a down a bit relative to us (i.e. not on a completely flat plane)Jase said:The sun may move within our galaxy, I'm not sure about that, but all the planets orbit around the sun. If the Earth wasn't moving, we wouldn't have Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Um, do you know how we get our seasons?Markus6 said:Sure we would, the sun just has to move up a down a bit relative to us (i.e. not on a completely flat plane)

This is a rather ironic post. I never said we get seasons from the Earth's rotation. We get them from the Earth's revolution around the sun. Rotation and Revolution are not the same thing. Seasons are a result of the tilt in the Earth's axis in relation to the Sun. When the Northern Hemisphere is pointing towards the sun, it is summer in the north, and winter in the south. As the Earth revolves to the other side of the sun, so that the Northern Hemisphere is pointing away from the sun, it is winter in the north and summer in the South.RichardT said:Obviously you don't seem to understand that I disagree with you here.
And it is thanks to your ignorance of geocentricity that you seem to think that we can only get seasons if the earth were rotating.

Why don't people read a little bit about the subject there dealing with before commenting...

How does the universe tilt? We know that the Earth is tilted on its axis. The Earth revolving around the sun is why we have seasons.RichardT said:Geocentrists believe it is the universe that the universe tilts, not the earth.
How do you know the Earth is tilted? Do you mean the sun is not moving on the same plane as the equator? What does this have to do with geocentrism anyway? We all know the Earth is stationary, have you ever felt it rotating/tipping/hurtling through space?Jase said:How does the universe tilt? We know that the Earth is tilted on its axis. Are you serious here? It is a fact that the Earth is tilted, and the Earth revolves around the sun.Markus6 said:How do you know the Earth is tilted?
