  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Creation, why we must accept it as given?

The Sabbath is obviously tied to Creation by reference to creation in the fourth commandment. God rested on the seventh day. We are to work six days and rest on THE seventh - the Sabbath.

Genesis 2 and Exodus 20 look it up pretty simple. Two books of the Bible written by the same author.
Does it matter to you that Genesis 2 was written many years after the Creation occurred?

If God inspired the writer of Genesis and Exodus then it does not matter how long the time line between the event of creation and the written account of it was transcribed. God stands outside of time. The point senti is making here was refuted on another thread.

It depends upon what you mean by inspired. The common though unlikely assumption is that God showed the writer the events and then the writer wrote them down. But inspiration does not have to be limited to that type of usage. If someone went by that type of inspiration they would likely also go with the old canard God said it and I believe it and we would be back to stoning people to death. Thank God even the fundamentalist don't hold to their proclaim literal traditions.
