  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Adaptation, when put together with survival of the fittest and the other parts of evolution, makes evolution.
There's really no way you can call adaptation straight evolution, as it's missing key parts.
Adaptation is simply descent with modification, a process by which lineages become better adapted to their changing environments. And descent with modification is evolution (read Darwin's first book).
You seem to want to create boundaries where there are none. You seem to want to take the typical YEC tactic by calling small-scale change "adaptation" and large-scale change "evolution". Truth is, though, that these are entirely subjective boundaries, and the only difference between them is the scale of time. Really, the same evolutionary processes act at all times. There's no objective way to draw a line and say "this is adaptation" and "this is evolution". YECs have already tried and failed because biological reality doesn't fit into their tidy little boxes.

You haven't picked up my challenge yet.

Describe adaptation.

Describe how adaptation happens.

I'll bet when you describe how adaptation happens, it will look exactly the steps in the links on evolution you posted.

Do you get adaptation without heredity?

Do you get adaptation without variation?

Do you get adaptation without mechanisms?

What mechanisms produce adaptation?

So, back to you.

What key parts are missing?

Well, I hope you will follow through and obtain some of the scientific papers presented as citations.

But, the wiki page is essentially correct; however, wiki can be authored by lay people - I highly recommend obtaining the real scientific papers so that you can see first hand the evidence. I say this because I know what you are going to do - you are going to read the wiki page, then you are going to say it is missing lots of stuff and then pick quotes form the wiki page as evidence.

If you are interested in learning, read the real scientific papers. Even then , you may not understand since researching evolution requires many years of study at a masters/Ph.D level - not every lay person can and will understand it.
