Everyone here knows about Hovind. Most (Christians and non-Christians combined) think he is a charlatan and an extremely poor scientist. His "science" has been routinetly debunked here, yet people keep bringing him up.

Also, this appears to be blatant spam, and probably a violation of the forum rules.

I'm not sure about that. They really watered-down the forum rules a while ago (they even took out the "no sarcasm" rule).

Well, not anyone. I knew a few people who managed to graduate that would have loved some of his stuff.

What's the difference between Christianity and Christian Science?

The term here is Creation Science, not Christian Science (Christian Science is a subset of Christianity that focuses on faith-healing, from what I understand). Creation Science, on the other hand, is an attempt at twisting modern science to fit with a literal Bible. Most creation science organizations (like Hovind's) believe, for example, that the world is only 6000 years old, that the global flood took place about 4500 years ago, and that all major "kinds" of animals were created at roughly the same time (as opposed to evolved over time).

Modern science, on the other hand, has refuted these notions (in fact, some of these ideas were rejected almost 200 years ago), because the evidence in the Earth does not support these ideas (the Earth is generally accepted to be 4.5 billion years old, for example). Yet, some Christians still try to claim that the evidence really confirms their ideas based on the literal Bible.

I do know that Christianity isn't a religion. It's a personal relationship with Christ, but is that the same with Christian Science?
Careful, "Christian Science" has nothing to do with Kent Hovind or "creation science." Christian Science is a Christian cult that gets wrapped up in legal controversy over refusing to take their sick children to the doctor, preferring prayer.

"Creation science" is a sector of the Christian community that tries to persuade people that the Biblical account of creation is scientific. The leading creationists are Henry Morris, Duane Gish, Kent Hovind, and Hugh Ross.

And Christianity is a religion, even if it is also a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Christianity has all the connotations and denotations of the word "religion." Get used to it.

Well, forum rule #3 is "No Spam":

You will not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, email address, business, MLM, activity, church, ministry or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion).

Not sure if the poster is directly affiliated with Hovind, but this is a pretty blatant advertisement.

the truth, are you affiliated with Kent Hovind?

This is great guys. These forums are a good place to hide. Why you feel the need to down a person without meeting him is beyond me. Dr. Hovind to debate anybody,so come on out of the forums and debate him live. If you want a written debate, Walt Brown has also said he will take anybody on in that. So, let's stop talking about people behind their back. God Bless.

Dr Hovind and Dr. Brown are free to come here if the want to debate. Why don't they? An open forum on the internet is hardly behind someone's back. I know that Brown was invited by a YEC to participate in debate on OCW but refused because he was ostensibly too busy, yet he claims to be willing to enter into a written debate with 100,000 word submissions.

For anyone who is buying Hovind's stuff I still have some shares available in that bridge in Brooklyn for a very reasonable price.

Live debates are useless for debating matters of evolution, geology, etc, because these subjects are too complex to be adaquetely cover in the limited timespan of such a debate.

A written debate, on the other hand, allows for proper coverage of the material (although, such debates should still remain focused) as well as proper referencing and cross-checking of resources.

Hovind, however, steadfastily refuses to engage in written debates (and he has been challenged many times). If he was interested in science, he would not shy away from such a debate. But he isn't interested in science; he just wants to preach.

And Hovind is more than welcome to come into these forum and defend himself. There's nothing stopping him.

As for Walt Brown, his debate challenge is very narrow (for example, he refuses to debate with anyone who doesn't have a PhD). Here's an example of a person who challenged Walt, but was refused: http://gondwanaresearch.com/hp/walt_brown.htm

I would NEVER waste mymoney on such garbage. This Hovind is a Big Pacifier (D-t*t, to thiose from the UK) for those who wanted somepne to validate their beliefs that they even question. This Hovind does not use real science he plays on emotions. I head ONE segment someone I know let me listen to and I felt ill. I felt really strange that people could believe this bad science. This man is very dishonest and preys on people with less intellect and knowledge that he does by taking their money to soothe their fears. -SAD
