Maybe an Instant Messenger like MSN that can handle a multi-person chat?

IRC maybe, but forums just wouldn't do the trick, IMO.

well there are "some" forums that have a LIVE chat

if we did it here, others could find it, if we did it elsewhere we could prevent unwanted visitors

I suggest IRC. For those that don't have an IRC client there are plenty of web based IRC clients they could use.

I agree.

Btw, I was technically being serious abour presenting papers/articles for discussion. What do you think about this idea? In addition to various topics for discussion, those who had proposals or issues to raise could present short papers outlining their position for discussion.

actually i like that idea as well

but i'm thinking we might be limited in a chat box, so perhaps have links available to refer to or the like? or we could propose papers working on or in the process of. either way, you are sharing my ideas as well. there are many issues we need to discuss.

Yeah, I agree, we might have limited space (and even on this forum non site supporters can only post a max of 15000 letters per post)

If you liked, we could publish all the submitted papers on www.creationtruths.com in a private section accessible only by username and password which we could have ready within 10 days or so. Everyone could log in and read them at any time and discuss them then in the conference "room".

I also agree that discussing research proposals--areas that commonly come up in discussion with the TEers, etc that should be fleshed out...

Bah....I was trying to be helpful and my post disappeared when my browser thought I'd enjoy a "page can not be found" message.

In terms of IRC (because it seems that came up a few times in the thread) you'd have to join a server that allows you to create channels. (This means don't use the servers that CF uses as you have to apply to have a channel created. ) There actually is a way to lock a channel so that only certain people can come in...whether they are invited in or enter in with a password. It's been literally 8 years since I created and ran a room like that so I don't know the commands offhand. However, I'm sure with some Googling anyone could find out how to do that stuff. Otherwise if you don't lock up the channel you can get random people visiting. If you don't mind that...then don't worry about it. If you do mind it...then look into locking the channel.

I also noticed MSN Messenger mentioned. You can invite people into conversations. For example, say I was using MSN and having a conversation with someone in this thread. I could invite everyone else who participated in this thread (providing I had them on my MSN list) or the other person I was talking with could also invite people in. I'm not sure what the max number of people in one conversation is...if there is one. We had like 13-14 people in one last night.

Put me down, I would love to participate. Off hand I don't know of a chat forum because I don't do chat that much anymore. Just drop me a line and let me know where it will take place.

all good ideas.

i am not sure how to work an IRC so if someone knows, that would be helpful, but i did find a forum with a chat box and talked with the owner. they would allow us to chat and set aside as much as 3 hours for whatever we want to cover, i figure it won't take that long right? of course, you'd have two options here:
1. you could join the forum (all you need is a username and password created)
2. use a "guest" account. these are accounts that say "guest1" with a password of "guest1" and i think there are 5 or 6 (the owner said he could set up as many as needed). and basicall you'd sign on in the guest account and then use the chat box.

but if you prefer the IRC way, please someone tell me how to do this as i am not sure. we DEFINITELY have one option in case the IRC idea doesn't work.
