I have operated IRC channels in the past but with my unknown and possible crazy schedule I don't want to commit to running a chat room if I don't know for sure I'll be able to fulfill the commitment.

Dalnet is a popular IRC chain of servers that allow people to create new rooms and register their nicks. The most popular client for IRC is MIRC but you could also get on Dalnet through a web browser.

PS - The new IRC server we're using now (which is different than the one I spoke about earlier) will allow you to create your own channel.

And if you have any problems...let me know...and I'll get it set up for you there.
