My little brother is a big Metal fan, (and I am a fan of some Metal to) but we both avioded guys we know are are really are satanic, one of the bands we thoght was being for real about being satanic was Cradle of Filth but before we knew that we both agreed that we thought the band was vary overrated (he even intruduce me to them because he thought they were the worst sounding band ever fromed) today I let him us my ladtop and I went back on and found he downloded there songs on my computer, when I cheked my history he went back to a few there web sites. To my shock I found out in the last few days that he has bin keeping secrtets about some bands he really likes from me. like little details about the bands history or real life views that hint that really mean what there saying. I even suspect that he is listing to really satanic bands. What should I do?

I don't know maybe you should just sit down and talk to hime about it if you see it as a problem. Just tell him that there is better bands than COF like Lengsel, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, Oblivion, Slechtvalk, Horde and Paramaecium, which are all christian and blow COF out of the water(in my opinion anyways) and the bands listed are for what you believe in rather than against what you are believe in, being that there are. Don't be too forceful or anything but make it clear that going by what you believe in as christians, it is not right to listen to so called "satanic" music (though Cradle of Filth are more of a dark pagan band though, not technically satanic). I'm sure though as long as he isn't negatively influenced he shoul be just fine. Most of COF's music has nothing to do with religion, it's more fantasy related... in the first place, even if they don't believe in the same things that you do. So don't always be so quick to judge either.

Are they bad New? I am going by a friends oppion and he pointed out some bands who did turn out to be pretty bad before.

Dose any know anything els about them that I should know?

one thing i would want to point out is to consider this...
what is the real difference between listening to Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir and The Beatles or The Grateful Dead besides musical differences?

The fact that my brother had to lie to me about likeing them. And I found out he listing to guys that might be even worse, he checking out Insain Clown Possiy and a band I never heard of called Sword Rape behind my back. He said never he like any of these guys and yet I find him checking them out, he has bin open to me about other bands that got really dark before and yet lies about Cradel of Flith and now I.C.P so why dose he need to be keeping secerts from me now about the music he likes?

Well obviously he wouldn't tell you to your face that he was listening to a band you wouldn't approve of. I mean how would he be able to explain to you that he liked a band called Cradle of Filth, without you judging him or giving him crap about it. So you are actually the one that is somewhat forcing him to hide his musical tastes being that you don't approve or let him be. Believe me I was in his situation before with my parents and family members, who wouldn't understand why I listen to certain bands that just happen to disagree with what they believe in.

He interuduce me to them and even He said thought they were worst band ever fromed. And yet he is down loading them on MY computer. I have let him get away with other guys with worse name and maby even worse songs like Lame Of God and even Slayer and I never gave him hard time for them, so is Cradel of Fitlth so bad that he wants me to think he dose not like them?

Possibly(he could be lying to you), yet again Cradle of Filth is not for everyone so he may be telling you the truth and/or lying again. COF is far from the worst though, there lyrics are mostly about some wierd fantasies about vampires.

And would some one please give me more details on the band?

Here you go Loner...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cradle_of_Filth

http://www.metal-archives.com/

taken from wiki:

The band is often perceived as satanic by casual observers, although its outright lyrical references to satanism are few and far between, and its use of satanic imagery has arguably always had more to do with the shock value than any deeply-held beliefs. Nevertheless, Andrea Meyer (the band's first female vocalist on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh) makes an uncorroborated claim in Gavin Baddely's Lucifer Rising (p.211) that she was employed as the band's "satanic advisor", protecting them from the foolish excesses she believes other bands guilty of: "A lot of black metal bands know nothing of Satanism. They like the image and... give proper satanists a bad name by claiming they indulge in sacrifices and drink blood or whatever... Look what happened in Norway... Still, I liked Euronymous. He wasn't stupid - just too extreme. It's a shame that he's dead."

Yes I know a bit about them. They aren't Satanists for a start, they have a huge interest in vampire films and imagery but know very little about the literature. The lead singer likes herbal teas. They sometimes Holiday near Morcombe in NW England at a small farm we once stayed at.

They are apparently very friendly in person but retire to bed remarkably early for grown men.

Danny is incredibly short.

Untill fairly recently Danny lived at home with his mam (awh bless!), who would bring him his tea in his room.

His mother and auntie once attended a CoF concert in London and decided “its not for us dear”. (There was a UK documentary a few years ago that showed it).

The local “village” (4 houses church and a pub) near the farmhouse outside of Morcombe where they stay is full of people who speak very highly of them as conversationalists and well mannered young men but thinks their music is awful.

They share a photographer with my club night.

They are badly behaved when drunk, but don’t drink as much or as often as they pretend.

Not terribly Satanic is it?

Oh and they are a mixture of Agnostics and aithists.

Personally speaking, I have a problem w/ COF just because they have a shirt that says, "Jesus was a ****" on the back. NOT cool in my book, then again, I won't have to be accountable for that on judgement day.

I would be less concerned with what your brother is listening to, and more concerned that he used your laptop to d/l songs he knew you'd have a problem with. That's disrespect on a most basic level.
