I bet most people reading this thread don't know his name. "Whole life tarnished", phfft! He got a little notoriety which he is hoping to parlay into cash. He can probably do the right-wing talk show circuit.
I'm sure someone at some point (probably when running for office) will try to say that he joined the KKK solely because of the spiffy uniforms, or because they have a good dental plan, or because his wife insisted he get out and socialize more...
"What? They're racists? I hadn't noticed..."
His whole life has been tarnished. Or at least until now. It remains to be seen what happens in the future for him when people dredge this up on social media to try and paint him as a racist. The future is unwritten yet. But we have seen what people have done with others.
Did this kid join the KKK? I was unaware.
If they can so easily dredge this up to paint him as a racist, it should be child's play to dredge up his vindication... any reason why it shouldn't be?
After all, his vindication is a matter of public record, and as his last name is not Clinton, it's not as though people would go out of their way to ignore it.
@NotreDame was using the KKK as an analogy -- to address the legal question of whether "X is a racist" can ever be factually determined, as opposed to a matter of opinion. He said that it could -- that someone who joins the KKK could, as a matter of fact, be considered a racist. I offered a humorous alternative.
Neither I nor anyone else mentioned the kid. Pay attention... it slows down the entire discussion when we have to stop and catch people up.
We've already seen how people act. The problem is this kid may have to continue to defend himself for a long time. Everytime someone dredges this stuff up he'll have to being up the stuff showing his innocence. That's what I'm talking about cause that's how people are.
Covington Catholic High student's lawyer says lawsuit is 'message' for 'weaponized' Washington Post..
This kid is probably going to end up being very rich because there are probably many more of these lawsuits to come. That's what happens when news groups jump off the wall and don't check out the truth in their reporting. Caring not about the lives they may be wrecking.
M-Bob
Well, thanks for catching me up anyway. And by the way I agree that if someone joins the KKK they could be considered a racist.
Apples and oranges.Pretty much the same thing that happens whenever anyone is found "not guilty" in a court of law. Some folks just don't care what a stupid judge has to say.
Shall every exonerated criminal also receive a nine-figure compensation?
Apples and oranges.
We do know that politicians are exempt from this kind of stuff when it come to political speech.Won't be long until Trump gets sued then.
I know you are not unaware of the phrase and what it means. I don't want to talk down to you. But just in case, a criminal case is not the same thing as what we are talking about. Completely different circumstances .Bananas, crackers, and nuts. Make a point?

I've read through a lot of your postings. You are definitely liberal leaning.
That's an issue of perspective I'm afraid. Many Conservatives think anyone who isn't a Conservative is a liberal. I'm a moderate with some small "l' liberterian leanings. Do I tend to go after Conservative nonsense posted here more than liberal nonsense? Yeah, and I chalk that up to living in Texas and being surrounded by people spouting the same nonsense and keeping my mouth shout because they're my friends.
Right -- in many ways, a criminal case is even worse than bad press, because it's the power of the government bearing down to deprive you of your liberty, and possibly your life. Seeing as how people are being conditioned to trust the government more than the lugenpresse, an accusation from them can really wreck your life.
And even if the courts (or similar body, say for example, a Congressional Committee) puts you though the wringer and fails to find any wrongdoing, you still have to deal with the throngs of bleating sheep chanting to lock you up! lock you up! lock you up!
OTOH, this kid is in the same situation as.... who? Can you remember the last person this happened to?
I do believe that if you can show malicious prosection you should be able to sue. We should be able to hold our government accountable.
And as far as Clinton is concerned she DID violatel the law. The Justice Dept elected to not file charges against her despite the fact. A clear case of special treatment. Something else the government failed at.
But again this is not that. The kid was clearly singled out and no one even investigated it in the media until later. He was just judged guilty.
