courting vs dating ????

On a disturbing note, I've seen the word "courting" used in court, as the lawyer was trying to describe his clients relationship with a woman, that had accused him of rape. That's a case where two people are NOT on the same page.:O

Man that lawyer sounds like he's hits on women so much that nobody will hire him. That's for sure.

well actually he was defending the accused man, and trying to say that this man was courting the woman. EVen the judge laughed at the comment.
