  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had friends that got married 3 weeks ago at a courthouse. They had the choice of choosing a christian wedding . I didnot attend the wedding but they recorded it . It was really touching ! The justice was really warm and the prayers and advice he gave were so touching.
Maybe you can consider that option.

I plan to get married this summer. I know I'm not going to have a wedding ceremony. I was wondering would it be ok as a Christian to get married at the courthouse rather than having a minister marry us. I have no objections to a minister but just wondered. Thanks for the responses!! :)
Why won't you have a wedding ceremony? OR what do you mean by 'wedding ceremony'?

I wanted to have a garden wedding when I got married, but got pushed into having it in the church. I often still fantasise about doing it all again, differently this time. In the end the wedding is a lovely day out for everyone else, but one of THE lifetime memories for you and your man. Listen to everyone's opinions and try to think clearly (by planning everything ridiculously early!!) - but do it to yours and your man's taste, not anyone else's.
