  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello everyone!
I am wondering what kind of regular activity we can do as a couples to hang out, get to know each other deeper, and glorify God through our relationship. We have long past the stage of just being together is fun and heart-pounding experience, and seek fun, economic, and interesting activities to engage together.

Right now, I am thinking something like:
- Going to gym to workout together
- Attend weekday praise & worship services
- Hiking/biking on the weekend
- Take jazz dance classes together $_$
- Engage in some kind of urban ministry/volunteer activity

Although I'm in mid-30s, she's pretty young and energetic. If there's a courting or married couples out there, what long-term activites did you guys find engaging and helpful to build lasting, Godly relationship?

I've been married since the start of the year, and feel very blessed that our relationship has been growing closer every day.

A big part of that is regular couples devotions. We don't do them as often as we'd like, -lately it has been down to one night a week :(

We go all out and have a candelit dinner (at home) and have a great night. Then there at the same candelit table we'll do a devotion together. It is my favourite time of the week.

We also garden together. There's nothing like being out in the fresh air and sunshine, getting exercise and working together for the same end (in our case last weekend, a whole new garden bed).

We also try to go biking together, but as it is winter here we haven't been for a bit.

Funnily enough, cleaning the house together is also a bonding experience. We have it down to an absolute art (figuring who is in which part of the house whilst the other one cleans another part etc). Again it is really bonding because we are working as a team to achieve the same goal. And because we put on music, and he'll often dance with me and dip me in between chores (yeah, we're geeks!) it is also kinda fun.

We go window shopping a bit. We go to homewares stores and make plans for our dream home. We look at the kids section at Target and talk about when we'll have kids (like I said, we're idiots :D ) We go to the nursery and make overly ambitious plans for our garden.

That's about all I can think of now. This is a great idea for a thread! Hopefully my dh and I'll find some new ideas here :)

My guy and I bought this journal from Barnes and Noble called The Book of Us: A Journal of Your Love Story in 150 Questions by: David Marshall,Kate Marshall. It is so much fun to fill out together and reflect on the past and visualize the future. It will be a great keepsake to pass on to our children. :)

what sorts of questions does it have? What's it like? It sounds pretty cool.

For example:

Before I met you my love life was...

If this had not happened, we never would have met...

This is how I remember the first time we met...

My very first impression of you and what initially attracted me to you was...

There are five sections, the last being "Tying The Knot" so it's fun to fill out what you can and know that there is room to "finish your story" so to speak, later on. :)

It all depends on what you're into and what you feel your callings are. You can glorify God together in almost any setting, doing almost anything. Personally I think it would be nice to start a small street ministry, or volunteer at a church nursery, or think about starting a weekly Bible study group at one of your homes or even at a public place like a restaurant where other people have an opportunity to talk to you and learn more about Christ through you. But definitely keep praying about it and see what the Lord lays on your heart. :)

Haha! I hope you and he enjoy as much as we do!!
I hope so too! We are planning to get engaged "soon" (that's all he's told me... he won't tell me when!! and yes... I am impatient at times!) so I'd like to give it to him then, (well, sometime soon after that) and we can fill in the engagement part together :D

In terms of outdoor activities, taking a camera with you can be heaps of fun. If you're heading somewhere with lovely natural beauty, it can be great to take some snaps to keep as memories of places that you've been together. :) I have some fabulous images that have been taken by my girlfriend and I when we've gone out for picnics or leisurely sightseeing trips.
