the council in Acts 5 :33 got it right, while they were fighting against God they got it right.
Acts5:33 NLT
33 When they heard this, the high council was furious and decided to kill them. 34 But one member, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was an expert in religious law and respected by all the people, stood up and ordered that the men be sent outside the council chamber for a while. 35 Then he said to his colleagues, Men of Israel, take care what you are planning to do to these men! 36 Some time ago there was that fellow Theudas, who pretended to be someone great. About 400 others joined him, but he was killed, and all his followers went their various ways. The whole movement came to nothing. 37 After him, at the time of the census, there was Judas of Galilee. He got people to follow him, but he was killed, too, and all his followers were scattered.
38 So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!
The picture here is if God is for us who can stand against us? After this Godly answer they had Peter and John Flogged, clearly fight against God. So how did they get it right. I have seen some very wicked people do very Biblical things. I think it shows God working on there heart, Like the council in Acts 5 we see Good come from them, then they do something bad whip Peter and John, how did they get it right? God got it right. God brings for good from evil all the time and here is a clear picture of God bringing forth good from evil men. Peter and John were happy to be counted worthy to suffer with Christ.
If God is with us who can be against us? the answer is no one, and what should the church do of false prophets. Nothing. Jesus said do not resist evil, sure we she let others no it is false but we need not punish them because we see the truth in Acts 5. False prophets will not go far except the end times, but will always be put down, even in the end times. Those with God will always prosper. So if you don't know which side a person is on, study the word, but don't worry just watch and compare them with the word. You will see God will always lift up His children, and false prophets will always fall in the end.
We were just discussing this in class and I thought i would share. I might have to pay for my education but if i can then give it away, so that is what I am doing.
