I’m really sorry to hear that, and it makes me mad:( Everyone deserves a second chance once they’ve served their time. If you set up a gofundme let me know.

My biggest hurdle is waaaaay back in high school I got in trouble with the law. I served time. Now, even tho I am known to be disabled in my hips, back and neck, they do not view a criminal background as a 'disability'. So they say I can get a less labor intensive job that doesn't require me to exert myself, but I don't ever get past the background check. People will not hire me. So I haven't found a job, and I cannot get any gov assistance or disability.

Rock and a hard place really. I am not physically able to perform menial tasks like construction or landscaping that I have decades of experience in. So I have to find something entry level. I tried a dishwashing job, but I cannot stand all day like that. I go all "I fell and I can't get up" my hips say 'nope' and Im hitting the ground.

I need to work for 20 hours a week
I know we are going afield from "prayer" thread, but you might also look at if you can do training (Most training is all on line now.) or "workfare" in lieu of having a job to qualify for SNAP. See HERE

Ah well... asking for prayer is asking for help. Both are appreciated.

What are the qualifications for food stamps in Florida?
In order to receive Food Stamps in the state of Florida, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Proof of Identity: You must be able to show proof of your identity.
  • Work Requirements: If you are between the ages of 18 through 49 and not disabled, you must work at least 20 hours a week to receive Food Stamps ...
  • Gross Income Requirements: Your household monthly gross income (pre-tax pay) must be less than 130% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Wow, I'm sorry things have seemed to compound for you to bring you to this point.
Maybe some of us can help, but we also need to pray for a solution. My heart breaks to hear a man (husband, father) who desires to provide for his family and is being met with so many roadblocks.
Idk what happened to your back, neck, etc...but I wish there was a way to get to a good chiropractor. But that costs money as well. I'm really sorry you're going through this.

@LostMarbels, how do you feel about setting up a PayPal account? All you need is a bank account to connect it to. It may take a few days to set it up.

Honestly, I'm conflicted. In many ways I feel like I would be fleecing people. I'm concerned about if that is even in the rules, and was never my genuine intention. I am beside myself even considering the compassion of people even asking.

I can certainly understand and that is very honorable. I can relate. A very generous brother stepped forward to help me last year when my youngest son was fighting cancer. This brother found out we lacked furniture and some other things and purchased what my son needed. It was very humbling...and it still brings me to tears to this day.

I was rear ended at 65 to 70 MPH by a drunk driver on the phone with 911 stating he was going to kill someone tonight. I was making a right-hand turn into my neighborhood, and he thew us 360 feet before I regained control. Both my wife and me were hospitalized.

Yes, it is in the report, he was on a call with 911 that recorded the impact, and he was ranting about killing someone tonight. And he fled. Was never caught.

I can pray for others, and have seen many amazing results to God moving in others. I however, do not seem to be able to pray for myself. I have a tendency, not of complacency, but of acceptance, that I do not seem to be able to reach thru. I find it debilitating. Almost as if I am whining about everything God has provided me.

While I am blessed more than others, I feel I need God's help in my life. We are hungry. My family I mean. We need food. We do not have a stove or oven. Both our AC and heat is broken. We still have storm damage to our home from Hurricane Irma we do not have the money to fix. My wife's car has electrical problems, and her headlights do not work. We have no carpets. Holes in the walls from the water draining in the hurricane from a damaged roof. (the roof is fixed) Exposed electrical wiring that is not capped off but is live. We have fleas, roaches and brown recluses. Our lawn is about 3 feet tall because we cannot afford to mow it.

Recently we have been living off of our prepper stash. Hurricane food. Which is putting us at risk for this current season. And we are running out. We had at one time over a years worth of food. Well, it served its purpose but needs to be replenished.

I mean, poor, destitute, homeless or dying... I will still serve the Christ, Jesus. God's will be done concerning me, and my life. God is just, and faithful even when we are not understanding of, or even aware of how he moves in our situations. But I feel I could use a bit of fortune at this point in time. I need money. I need my bills paid. I honestly need help. If you would find the compassion to intercede on my behalf I would be most grateful.
Brother lifting you up in prayer. Wow 3 years you have been living like this? May I ask what your church has done to help you with repairs and groceries?

I just want to thank you, Lord. For the loving kindness shown towards me by my brothers and sisters here on this forum. Be mindful of their charitableness. Their concern and prayers. I pray father, you give them the heart of your will for me, and let them not seek out my own ambitions, but give them your word. Speak you will for me to them, that they may confirm it in the spirit, in agreement before Christ. I do not ask for anything. I make no demands. I accept your will and ask that it may be confirmed by two or more witnesses in Christ. I trust in you, and leave this in the hands of your body. In the Christ's name Jesus, I pray.

At least. Guess it kinda caught up with me.

May I ask what your church has done to help you with repairs and groceries?

The surrounding churches that I can get to are not exactly... helpful? Is that too judgmental?

You walk in there and it is the book of James. They play favorites. Tell you all kinds of wonderful flowery things, but you still leave destitute of those things needed for daily life. And the sky falls if you aren't dressed appropriately. Don't need any riffraff in the church now do we?

This is my church. Good peeps here.

Intense. I hope things improve. Do you have the option of growing veg in your garden? A scythe is a relatively cheap way to cut grass, then you could turn the sod over so any remaining grass dies off and plant with seasonal veg. Seeds taken from food you eat like peppers etc will grow as well as seeds you can buy. Is community or cooperative farming a thing where you are? Check out this guy for an example: Ron Finley - Gangsta Gardener for the Urban Community

Yeah. I'm actual on agricultural/horticulture rurally zoned land. I have seeds. I can also legally have any kind on farm animals I want out here. Need to look into that a bit more.

I have a sling blade, but it keeps breaking because the grass is so thick.

I do not know. We have everything out here. Even sheep. Next door neighbor has chicken. I never really got into it even tho my uncle raised sheep in Virginia. Good question.

I have one. Used to use it to accept credit cards for my landscaping business. Years ago. Don't even know if I can access it.

Chickens are a good way to go, eggs and meat. They are prone to skin diseases and parasites but so long as you treat them regularly they can be a good source of food, if you have enough land you don’t need to buy much extra food as they will eat whatever bugs etc they find.
