I'm really going through a very bad patch at the present .

I really don't know why - I managed through his birthday , it wasn't easy but I even managed to visit his ward and take over a donation to them , but these last 3 days have been really hard going

The first anniversary of his death is coming up, and that is a really hard time. Come here whenever you need to--we love you.

This time last year I realised that we were more than likely not going to win the fight - I was still hoping but also trying to be realistic .

He had just gone back into hospital - driving himself in , in the car I/we had bought in February , on his insistence , so I had a car that would take me wherever I needed to go no matter the weather . He drove the Freelander just once - the time to go into Hospital, and of course he never came out .

44 years of marriage ended on 28 May last year

Your thoughts, as gut wrenching as they are in your time of grief, give me great inspiration. As a single man i often wonder whether marriage is worth it or if its just a scam. Im constantly bombarded with stories of bad marriages and whether its even possible for the same man and woman to love each other for more than like 5 years. I see in your posts that it is possible. May God carry you through, till you reunite in heaven.

Maybe because his birthday was always a happy day for you, you relive the happiness, but the anniversary of his last illness and passing is full of painful memories, so you relive the grief.

Whatever the reason I think it's natural to have ups and downs. That doesn't make it any easier to bear, I know.
