• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Could any of you pray for a pothead?

Pray that God will get you a spiritual high that is greater than the drug is.

That was quite a bold suggestion, but the bible actually tells us to not get drunk, but be filled by the Spirit, and I'm guessing the bible wouldn't mention this if not being filled by the Spirit was better then drunkenness.

I'm 30 now, so I've been smoking pot for 15 years, and it is a really hard bad habit to stop doing. So I hope I could get some prayers so I can see colors in life again without getting wasted. :holy:

I give you credit for trying. I know someone who's been smoking for about 10 years and it's just really hard to see someone do that "just to feel normal" (it isn't medicinal). It just becomes a habit and that can be difficult to break. Do you smoke cigs to relieve your craving?

Someone mentioned being pro-legalization, but essentially anti-recreation on a regular basis? Same here, dude.

I will pray for you. .

I really second the advice to go to NA. It is so helpful to be with other recovering addicts who can share their struggles and accomplishments with you. I know I wouldn't be clean now without it.

If people are being rude and unloving toward you out of a sense of moral superiority thats just because they are spiritually ill (like most people... myself definitely included). People who truly have the mind of Christ do not attack others but recognize that they are first among sinners*. Not all Christians are at the point though. People like that used to really make me angry but not so much anymore. I can sort of empathize with people suffering from spiritual illness because I suffer from it myself so often I guess.

*Like St Isaac the Syrain said:

Let yourself be persecuted, but do not persecute others.

Be crucified, but do not crucify others.

Se slandered, but do not slander others.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep: such is the sign of purity.

Suffer with the sick.

Be afflicted with sinners.

Exult with those who repent.

Be the friend of all, but in your spirit remain alone.

Be a partaker of the sufferings of all, but keep your body distant from all.

Rebuke no one, revile no one, not even those who live very wickedly.

Spread your cloak over those who fall into sin, each and every one, and shield them.

And if you cannot take the fault on yourself and accept punishment in their place, do not destroy their character.

MY DEAR BROTHER,

i hope all is going well for you in your struggle! i did beaucoup drugs back in the darkness, but weed was always my favorite and, in the end, the hardest one to let go. i grew it, sold it, and smoked it for approximately 25 years and have been clean from it for about 20 years now.

It can be done, my brother, with God's help. But, as someone above mentioned, you got to change your playmates, playgrounds, and playthings if you are ever to be free. As Scripture enjoins, " 'Therefore come out from among them and be separate', says the Lord. 'Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.' " (II Corinthians 6:17) THIS IS MUY IMPORTANTE!

i would also strongly suggest, as was mentioned above, that you attend 12-Step Meetings on a regular basis and shop around for a Christian Sponsor to support and guide you. Check out Marijuana Anonymous, both in person and on line.
( Marijuana Anonymous World Services ) However, be careful in person because some meetings, unfortunately, are full of people looking to score a gram or to hit on the females. There are, however, serious Meetings--FIND ONE WITH GOD'S HELP.

MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU, MAKE HIS FACE SHINE UPON YOU, AND SET YOU FREE FROM THE SATANIC DARKNESS MASQUERADING AS LIGHT, WHICH CANNABIS DRAGS US INTO.

:bow:ABBA'S FOOL,
ephraim
