Hello, I want to gather some opinions about certain Halloween costumes. My brother wants to dress up as something from the pokemon or digimon series. He showed me this drawing he was making the costume out of, and it looked a bit like a demon. I've been telling him not to be careless about this because in some Halloween threads, I read that trick-and-treaters shouldn't wear things like that. I'm afraid he's taking this too lightly and we both don't know exactly the spiritual consequences of it.

It looks like a demon? So you're telling me you've seen one? Some of you people just crack me up :D.
And you're very condescending. Please don't presume over someone elses walk with the Lord and what they find to be a threat or not, what one finds OK another finds dangerous, as long as each doesn't try to impose their 'list' on each other, so be it.

You beat me to it. XD

But, still, I wouldn't worry. Pokemon and Digimon characters are probably the least of your worries, atleast he isn't dressing up as the Grim Reaper or an axe murderer or something.

How old is he, by the way? I'm guessing fairly young.

Huh? I think I can safely say that no one I know has ever seen a demon. Since you've obviously seen them, can you take a picture next time? We'd all like to see it  .

I was not trying to start a fight in my last post, and the only thing I was try to say was that if you've never seen a demon, then how do you know that something looks like one?

(Are you going to possessed by a drawing? [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] IT'S THE ATTACK OF THE PAPER DEMONS!!! AHH!)

On a more serious note, I am a Christian and respect other people who practice it. Up there ^ I was mostly joking around.

thanks for the interest and let me assure you that my concern is not out of bounds. if you will just read on, i hope you will understand my point of view.

it does look like a digimon. i admit it didnt bother me so much before i read the book by dr. rebecca brown 'he came to set the captives free'. it is a true story about a woman who had demons live in her body, giving her supernatural powers. just because some people do not believe that demons are real doesnt mean that is the truth.

the bible says that demons are real, just as God is real and satan i real and angels and heaven and hell are real. just because you dont see it doesnt mean it doesnt exist. and to live as if the spiritual does not have any effect on the physical (or vice versa) would be foolish. im sorry if some are offended but that is the truth whether you believe that the bible is the word of God or not. but i urge you to believe, if nothing else, that God is real - for your own soul's sake.

it is very easy to be desensitized to what we are often exposed to sometimes even to the point that we enjoy things that we should be careful with. for instance, the average person would see nothing wrong with digimon fights but if you read the book, you will see that the digimon battles are uncannily similar to the way witches (in satanic cults) fight. the one with the stronger (digimon/demon) wins and gains the weaker demon of its opponent, each battle won will strengthen the person's power/experience points. please note that it is not my goal for you to be afraid but just to be aware. God is more powerful than any evil so you need not fear if you have God in your life but it would be better not to get involved with things that can influence you negatively. if God is in your life, you would try to see things through His eyes and not by your own judgement. you would let the one true all-knowing God guide you.

unfortunately, my brother does not see it that way. or is unwilling to, even though he knows all that. i really cannot impose my own conviction on him. nor do i want to. it really is his choice but it troubles me a lot. it isnt just him wearing a costume that looks like a demon but his attachment to those images (it doesnt take much for those cute, silly looking dinosaur-like things to transform into powerful ugly monsters) coz im concerned that his love for those could lead him to value those deceiving images more than his spiritual growth.

right now, i have taken to just keeping quiet about it coz i love my brother and do not wish to push him away to where i cannot reach him anymore.

I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Personal opinion coming up! :preach:

Whether or not Pokemon or Digimon look like demons or not isn't really the issue here. To be frank, these things are just little creatures that some guy made up to entertain children. That's it.

Now if you feel that they are adversely affecting him (ie, his behavior, his beliefs) then you should consider stepping in. Otherwise, just keep an eye on him and let him be. He'll grow out of it, and then you'll wonder why you were so worried.

Whatever path you choose, I hope things work out for the best. :prayer:
