  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  4. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  5. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.

Hi all. :hi: I know based on the smilie it seems I’m calm but at the moment living in NYC with the corona virus spread has been bad. I feel more like this ==>:noooo::lost: to be honest. To make matters worse, tomorrow, after 8pm, they are shutting down 100% of non essential personnel and we are to stay home. Many people are losing jobs and facing furlough. Many churches have shut down as well. My dad is a pastor and he’s never ever closed the church down unless there was a snow storm or life threatening Weather emergency. Seeing him close the church made me feel worried. I think the hardest part of all of this is staying home. It makes me stir crazy and all I want to do is get fresh air but due to this emergency it’s safer to stay home. My anxiety level have gone so high I can barely sleep. What can I do to fight my anxiety? I also have depression which makes it difficult to be motivated and do things while I’m home. It feels frustrating to have depression and anxiety. I wish I could just drink some tea :hrelax: and feel peace and calm, but it doesn’t cut it for me. I know praying and faith is the key but what else can I do? :mmh: I want to be fearless :zoro:through this but I feel :waaah:scared.

It's early days yet. Don't underestimate yourself.

2021 is going to be like the renaissance I reckon. I've sacked 2020 off already and have started planning for 2021.

:sput: 2020 didn’t stand a chance huh? This year has been the worst but I guess up to this very second I can only say. I’m currently healthy and doing better so it’s not that bad.

Warm bath, essential oils, exercise, distracting yourself with a book or learn something new, read, be creative, cook, look after yourself and just try to enjoy the time. It’s a mind battle and anxiety is just worrying about the future. Whereas depression is dwelling on the past. Both hinder enjoying the present moment.

    Oh and bible study.
That really takes up so much time and helps me relax in times of uncertainty. It’s like an endless treasure hunt.

All of this is easier said than done though! However it can become a discipline.

Create a routine. It takes 3 weeks to establish a habit. You can start now.

There’s plenty of things God has gifted you with. Ie hobbies & interests & talents. It’s just the thoughts that hinder you & make u paralysed to enjoy the moment.

You can do it! It’s going to be bad in the world around but you can do so many things with your time at home. Start a project or task :)

I highly dislike the talk of arrests. When my cupboard is low I shall attempt shopping and if anyone doesn't like it, stripey hat or no, they'll get an earful. I got some phone numbers given me and I can possibly get someone to help get me things but what if they're in trouble for that?

Thank you for the tea swigging icon! :hrelax:

There are some wonderful Scripture Exposition threads on CF!

I think our institutions are going to be obliterated, also quiet back street and rural businesses.

When I'm inarticulate (most of the time) I just mutter Our Fathers and Glory Be's one after the other.

Just take it a day at a time and be kind to yourself in these stressful times.

    Find some inspirational pics too.

I find photos of things people create inspiring and that makes me want to make things & or get up to exercise.

Start small. Clean a small part of the house first with some music :)

I just know if you get moving, it gets better. I battle anxiety every day too.

    Goodluck xx

Remember that even if as few as 5 per cent of the population goes down with a harsh coronavirus infection it will be grotesque while its at its peak.

When NY hits the peak its going to be very heartbreaking. Hundreds of thousands of patients will need help in a short period of time.
It will be disastrous even though the vast majority experience Covid-19 less intensively.

Try to tune out the news as much as possible is my advice. All of the happy cases drown in the tragedy of others.
Until we're put in a respirator we should believe we're going to be part of the vast majority.

Mathematically its very likely we'll go down with a moderate version of it ourselves.
    Prayers said though.

I also get health anxiety. I found a combination of CBT and sertraline keep it in check.

    Have you looked into that?
