  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I often wonder if a christian converting God's word to todays language would copyright it and prevent if from being given away freely.

I understand that a business is just that a business, they are there to make money and supply jobs. But if a person or small party was to Re-translate the Original (Public Domain) Bible to a Modern translation, would they put restrictions on who could copy it , print it or give it away ?

As far as I know the KJV has no copyright. How can you copyright the word of God? He's the Author.

Not in the UK

In the United Kingdom the Authorized King James Version (KJV) remains in Crown Copyright under laws which predate any modern copyright legislation. The rights in this Version of the Bible are a Crown prerogative which continues unaffected by changes in secular legislation.

As for the second part. Good question, sorta what I'm wondering. :(
