  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Coping with long time apart

Hmm... i don't yet understand as i see my fiance at least twice a week.. usually verging on 4-5 times.. but I hope to be going on a mission trip for 3 months, and i'm not even sure how much emailing and writing and that is possible, i suspect once every 2 weeks at max. So i can't really say anything to help you, but if its going to last, you'll see each other again, so no need to worry.

But when you're apart for six months or so it's really hard. It's been since Christmas since I saw my fiance.

Hmm... yeah ok so one week isn't a big deal, one month is copable.. but you'd probably miss them.. The 3 months i'll be spending is with the high probability of no contact with him at all... 9 months out from our wedding, so yeah it can be a problem.

But seriously mate, just get into god, and maybe do sumin like write a journal when you miss her the most, but write it to her, not to "dear diary"...

Yes. You should love God more than your spouse I think. At least not less than your spouse.

This is a tricky issue.

God wants us to love our spouses with the strongest possible love there is. He even commands in Ephesians that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church.

God is also not selfish. He doesn't want us to love only Him. He wants us to worship only Him... but love and worship are two different things.

I believe that we are to worship-love only God. In a way, this might be loving Him more... depends on how you see it. But in the other sense of loving, I believe we are to truly love God AND our spouses the same.

I agree that we all have to worship God, but could you back it up about loving spouses with strongest possible?

Well, me and my fiance are also, long distance. I live in Florida and he lives in Maryland. Life is very hard and very stressful! But we maintain a CONSTANT contact. We are always calling each other every chance that we get. If I get a free moment I call and vise versa. We dont really write because we talk all the time. He also, bought me a webcam that we use all the time. We talk for HOURS on there!

So I understand completely what you are going through. We are also, planning a wedding! So it is definitely interesting!

Good luck

Yeah, we're planning a wedding too. It's very difficult when you're a long distance bride that's getting married where your fiance lives! ;)
