  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Man is a religious animal. He is the only religious animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion - several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn't straight. He has made a graveyard of the globe in trying his honest best to smooth his brother's path to happiness and heaven. ... The higher animals have no religion. And we are told that they are going to be left out in the hereafter. I wonder why? It seems questionable taste."

"Why don't we really get radical for once? Yes, I know it wasn't easy to
get the word radical understood as an adjective appropriate to discipleship.
And yes, it was even harder to get revolution and revolutionary so
understood. But do you think it a bit more than the traffic can bear for me
now to push on to anarchy? Do you see me going from bad to worse? Not so. I
stand prepared to show that to go from revolution to anarchy is to go from wrong
to right, from misunderstanding to understanding, from unbiblical to biblical, from
world to gospel. And yes, it will take another transforming renewal of our minds to understand anarchy as the gospel, the good news it actually is".

A Child's Wisdom
A child brought me a pebble, white and smooth and round.
"What a wonderful thing!" he said.
"Wonderful?" said I. There are millions and millions of things like that."
"Then," he said, "There are millions and millions of wonderful things."

Life, like war, is a series of mistakes, and he is not the best Christian nor the best general who makes the fewest false steps. Poor mediocrity may secure that, but he is best who wins the most splendid victories by the retrieval of mistakes.---F.W. Robertson

contributed by Christi, who has made lots of mistakes that she hopes to retrieve. :)

THE STORY OF THE SILENT MONKS

There was a monastery near Aspen, Colorado, called Snowmass.
All the monks have taken a vow of silence. They rarely speak.
Each day begins with morning worship. The service starts when the head abbot comes in and chants, "Good morning."

The monks chant in reply, "Good Morning."

They say not another word until evening vespers, when the head abbot somes in and chants, "Good Evening."

The monks all reply in unison, "Good Evening." Not another word is spoken until the next morning.

Several years ago one of the monks decided he had to break up the boredom of this routine. The next morning when the head abbot chanted, "Good Morning," all the other monks chanted "Good Morning," except the one bored monk who, hiding his identity from the other monks chanted, "Good evening."

Quickly, the head abbot sang in reply, "Some-one chanted evening...He must be a stranger..."

Green Eggs and Hamlet

I ask to be, or not to be.
That is the question, I ask of me.
This sullied life, it makes me shudder.
My uncle's boffing dear, sweet mother.
Would I, could I take my life?
Could I, should I, end this strife?
Should I jump out of a plane?
Or throw myself before a train?
Should I from a cliff just leap?
Could I put myself to sleep?
Shoot myself, or take some poison?
Maybe try self immoloition?
To shudder off this mortal coil,
I could stab myself with a fencing foil.
Slash my wrists while in the bath?
Would it end my angst and wrath?
To sleep, to dream, now there's the rub.
I could drop a toaster in my tub.
Would all be glad, if I were dead?
Could I perhaps kill them instead?
This line of thought takes consideration -
For I'm the king of procrastination.
