"Lord God, bless us with divine health and wellness. Grant us the wisdom to make wise decisions about our daily health habits. Enlighten us to the choices we make if the choices do not "do the body good."

"Strange things happen when human emotions are involved, and faith can be a very emotional topic....Then you have to take into account denominational differences and how individuals interpret scripture....It helps first to identify our similarities..."

"Seriously though, get your head into the bible and read it cover to cover.Let it soak into you and pray your way through it. Its the only thing we have left in this age of "Ive got it all right and the rest of you are going to hell" mentality!"

ON RAGE....
I think this quote was addressed after Pastor Freud mentioned something about someone's "reaction formation" problem
( I forget the exact topic this quote of tulc's was under...maybe tulc will fill me in later on the topic's name if he can remember back from this January)

"....I start to shake and a red mist descends upon me. When I come out of it, I am sitting at my keyboard covered in blood and gnawing on someone's humorous..."

"...I can understand some of this, as it reminds me of something my dad used to say to me (well after, "get out of the house you bum! ahhh good times!) He'd say to me "tulc" ( well not really I hadn't achieved tulchood when he still talked to me ) anyway he'd say "tulc" ( well not really because...no wait we covered that ) "tulc, somedays it's not worth chewing through the restraining straps!" ( then he'd gently shake the well gnawed straps )....That dad, what a cut up! ( hence the straps)....
......tulc ( hope this helps, if not, keeping the straps handy might not be a bad idea)

cool quote?

from nyjbarnes in the thread "If evolution is true..." (creation & evolution forum)

It's been said that microevolution has been proven, I'll accept that for the moement. It's also been said on this board, although unobservable, macro evolution follows microevolution over longer time periods. I will accept that for the time being, or at least for the sake of this argument.

I am going to go in a different direction about transitional fossils...

What preceded a cow?

What preceded a horse?

What preceded a cat?

What preceded a dog?

(CaDan's reply in the "what is a liberal Christian" thread)

We are the boy who said the emperor has no clothes.
We are Rachel weeping for her children.
We are Noah setting his feet on dry ground.
We are Preacher Casey and Tom Joad.
We are the ones with AIDS hospices in our rectories and homeless shelters in our basements.
We are the widow with her mite.
We are the woman at the well.

We pray for the dead and work like hell for the living.
We afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.
We make the Kingdom of God manifest.

We are your sons and daughters.
We are your fathers and mothers.
We are your sisters and brothers.

We will break bread with Pharisees and lepers.
We will dine with sinners and tax collectors.
We will be a neighbor to all, even to our enemies.

For are we not the Body of Christ? What else can we do?

(said by trekker in the "what I think a liberal Christian is.")

I, too, find that to be the case.

When I was a conservative, I took Jesus' teaching on hell to be literal. But I took His teaching on selling everything I own in order to follow Him to be figurative.

I took Jesus' teaching on denying myself to be literal. But I took His teaching on carrying a cross to be figurative.

I took Paul's teaching on salvation by faith alone to be literal. But I took James' teaching on faith without works to be figurative.

I took the resurrection of Christ to be literal. But I took the concept of His resurrection in me to be figurative.

I took the teaching that all were sinners to be literal. But I took the teaching that all were justified freely as a gift to be figurative.

How do we escape our literal/figurative filters? Can we? Can all the issues in Christianity be placed on a line where one end is A-literal and the other end is B-figurative? Or is there maybe a C that is above the line that we don't often consider?
