  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ummmmm .... canned goat milk is NOT the same. I've never bought fresh goat milk commercially, but I used to keep a herd of milk goats. It's funny how much the flavor varies by breed and by what they like to browse on. I had a sweet little Nubian named Dakota that used to give the sweetest milk!

We bought our cow's milk, when we needed it, at a local dairy. Local farmers are some of the best sources for fresh products, if you live near any. Often they are hidden right in plain sight, or maybe I've just lived in the right parts of the country so far.

I had fresh raw milk only once, and it was so delicious that I had two big glasses. I couldn't believe the difference.

Yup, I rarely got to do anything with Dakota's milk ... it went into the fridge in a glass pitcher and got drank.

I had another, Sierra, that was an Oberhasli/Nubian mix, that produced a less wonderful milk. She gave me milk for cooking and such.

My husband would have considered it a sacrilege to put Dakota's milk in a recipe, lol. But he would never drink canned goat milk!

It was. I miss my farm. It was a lot of work, but tremendous bounty in fresh milk, eggs, meat, produce, and even fibers. And the land produces for the animals, and the animals produce for the land and work it to a degree. I loved it.

I've known people to do it small scale, but you have to keep at least two goats because they are herd animals (unless you can get one bonded to a dog, maybe). And then they have to be bred in order to produce milk. But they also produce nice clean cool fertilizer too. I'm not up for the work anymore, but I still wish I could have a little farm separate from my house, but then I'd need help working it. The Amish and similar ways of doing work and family has something to be said for it. :)

What a lovely balance. :)
