• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

is t time?

The variable t can be whatever you would like it to be. Simply put, it is just a meaningless variable, something that you use so that the convolution of f and g will be given in terms of something.

The point is you can equally describe manifest reality from the negative. Convolution simply implies that species are more likely to be more complicated if they are already more complicated and hence more complications arise. Similarly you can make out something meaningful from the negative of a photo if you don't have any regard for the truth.

Interestingly an inverse parallel to Poe's law has taken place here whereby something ludicrous (a creation story without God) is taken completely seriously as though the audience were interested in being part of that which is laughed at.

Hey, quit derailing the thread, I was learning something here with the math discussions.

I agree. The title of this thread contained the word "convolution," and therefore all mathematics must be fair game. Granted, over the past four years I've grown to hate math, but it is out of a bad habit that I desire to discuss it endlessly.

Don't say that! In September I will more than likely start a MatPhil degree!

I hate convolution. I never got it 100% and I never will all I know is that if you take your channel's or filter's impulse response h(t) and convolute it with your input x(t) you get the output y(t).

But convolution in the time domain is multiplication in the frequency domain (and addition in the IPU domain) so using Laplace or Z transforms (if in doubt flip a coin) you can see what channels/filters do to signals in the frequency domain and what you can do to correct the situation, if shouting, kicking it and re-installing windows fails.
