• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's easy. Just suspend reason. That is the key to being converted to religious belief.

I agree fully, converting to a religious belief defies reason.

I don't believe in a religions belief system, I believe in the Almight God and Creator, and in his Son who died for me (and you) on a cross ... to save me from etrnal damnation, and in his Word.:amen:

I'm just so glad we do not have a god that would react to power the way humans do, imagine a human getting godly powers ...

God is love, and want's to be loved by us ... he will never forsake us, and always love us ... that is not insecurity it is Godly ... for only God would give his only son, to save others.

It seems like the Christian god behaves like a human. Getting angry, having emotions, etc. Therefore, wanting humans to worship him sounds like insecurity to me. Or like there's a need for something.

And you didn't address the issues I presented. Why should anyone convert to Christianity when Christians themselves don't always agree on what they call "truth." Why should anyone trust what the Bible says when the it has been changed over the years. As well having numerous interpretations?
How do you define "godly" powers? Jesus Christ is portrayed one as having the ability to heal, raise people from the dead, would that be a definition of "godly" powers?

So it's not just believing, it's also about deeds?

Believe in the Son of God and ask for forgiveness of sin, but this does
not set you free to sin, if you believe in Jesus you must also shape you life
to what we wants for you, This can be summed up in two basic laws/rules
Love Your God with all your heart and love you neighbour (i.e. all other humans) like yourself.

So... killing, planting bombs etc. is not part of that list, and doing it in the name of God well ... like I said I do not want to answer for something like that.

Off Topic:
Those two rules sound easy, but believe me, it's difficult to keep.

God created us in his image, and I for one am happy that he has emotions, He does get angry, sad, happy. He loves, He hates. And like I said God is love and that is what He want's from us, well that is what I deduct from his Word - ask Him youself if you want the answer to "insecurity" question.

And you didn't address the issues I presented. Why should anyone convert to Christianity when Christians themselves don't always agree on what they call "truth."
We are all human and we disagree on a lot of little things, personally I wish it would stop, but one thing is certain - the messsage stays the same across all Christain beliefs - And if any belief breaks away from the main message they are not Christian.

Why should anyone trust what the Bible says when the it has been changed over the years.
The Bible has not changed, not sure where you got your info, but till today it is considered the most reliable source of history available, by both Christain and non-Christain historians and archeologists.

As well having numerous interpretations?
Many people will use the Word of God for either gain, power over others or egosentric reasons. But their publications will stay interpretations only, it should always be measured against the Bible for acuracy.

If you want the truth about Jesus read the Bible, not websites or summary books, that only quote the Bible. These can be very misleading if not downright misinformation.

Sorry that I did not answer your questions before, I seemed to have missed it, I blame on reading large posts, and lack of experience in forums.^_^

There are multiple versions of the Bible; KJV, American Standard, Gideon, Mormon, English Standard, etc...they are different.

Sorry but the Bible is certainly NOT the most reliable source of history. Especially if you take it literally.

Many people will use the Word of God for either gain, power over others or egosentric reasons. But their publications will stay interpretations only, it should always be measured against the Bible for acuracy.

Which Bible?

How do you know?

You started out really great in your first sentence but really blew it big time following. You don't believe in a religion but believe in God and his Son Jesus? what's with that? Where does that confused logic come from? Hate to break this to you but you're religious. So get used to it.

I'm a little confused here...you believe in Christ...yes? Then surely that makes you a Christian...no?!

Surely if you are a Christian and you believe in Christianity (and all that that entails) then you have just contradicted yourself in one paragraph.

I never understand Christians that say that they don't believe in religion...being a part of one of the (if not the), largest religions on the planet, and then saying that you're not, kind of sounds a little silly (well, it does to me, anyway).

**walks away slighty confused**

If it's OK with the Mods, I think this will be a neat experiment. Besides the theological arguments, I think technique will be interesting as well.

First, I assure you that I am quite content with my current NeoPagan tradition, and any other details should be in my profile. Would anyone care to attempt to convert me? Any religion or lack thereof is free to simultaneously participate.

(Send me a private message if you prefer not to do so publicly)

I assume that anyone remotely interested in Christianity will do their research into ALL branches of Christianity, visit a wide array of churches, and then decide for themselves. If you're serious you'll keep searching until you find what you're looking for. If you aren't, you won't. It all involves you and action or lack thereof. In the western world I assume everyone already knows the basic plot and there's no need to be pushy. The invitation is open to 'come and see'.
