So I'm a lifelong non-Christian, and a lifelong religious person. Nobody has tried more to convert me (other than Atheists) than Christians, and nobody (other than Atheists) has given less non-catchphrase-based reasons why I should do it. ("Atheism is freedom!" "Have fun in hell")

So please, I would really like it if someone would explain to me what the benifit is in joining any or all sects of Christianity. Not trying to start a fight, frustrated with lack of convincing prosthelatising.

What exactly are you looking for in Christianity? Are you wanting to convert or just debate the meaning of the bible and christianity?

I would be happy to tell you all of the wonders that is God and being Christian, but I would like to know if you really want to know these things or debate them.

And there is no fun in hell. Eternal damnation does not sound like fun to me but rather an eternity of punishment.

I don't think I'm actively seeking debate. I'm also not actively seeking Christianity. Nor am I seeking God, being someone already totally down with God. I am someone frustrated with being told to be a Christian but never being given a satisfactory reason why.

I am pretty happy with my own faith, which is monotheistic, and pretty down with all other monotheistic faiths and some non-monotheistic ones. They all seem pretty good, I just sort of want to know why Christians are so adament. What makes Christianity so special?

Atheism I understand why they need to be so vocal, they're preaching anarchy, it is kind of distinct from everyone else's view.

I am so adamant about being a Christian because I know that it is the only way to eternal life in Heaven and what could be better than heaven, certainly not earth. This life can't be all their is and I know that Jesus waits for me and will welcome me into the gates of heaven when it is my time and I will live forever with him, my family and friends and never know pain or sorrow again.

We are very very persistent because we don't want anyone to perish but to have everlasting life and that is a big motivator for us.

I'm still not clear what your question is. If Christianity is correct then the others are (at least partly) wrong. Who would want to follow a religion that is wrong?

So which of these is closest to your question (they are each very different):
  • How do you know Christianity is right?
  • What objective evidence can you show me that Christianity is right?
  • What should attract me to Christianity?
  • What does Christianity say that is different to other monotheisic religions?
  • something else

Sorry, But I really did find this funny.

Well this is a great question.

For me, it was an issue of Acceptance.

I believe, others will have other issues and reasons.

But you have to understand, I do not think I can convert you, I can only express what I know, and let you make your choice with that, does that sound ok?

God Bless

In response to "Sorry, But I really did find this funny." It was quite intentionally funny, I'm glad you liked it.

In fact, all four, and why do Christians care if I'm not part of the correct faith, since y'know... well why?

it seems to me that you prefer to exercise your preference to resist whatever anyone would say.
so the exercise would be pointless.

and no one is actually capable of "converting" anyone else. but every person must make the choice to either be converted (by the conviction of the Holy Spirit) or not.

i would pray though :prayer: that your eyes be opened to the message of God's love to you. so i will add what Jesus said, "he that has ears to hear let him hear."

I don't really think anyone on here is gonna convert me, nor do I think you believe you're gonna, at least not soon. Plus I come from a Jewish family so you'd have to first convert me BACK to Judaism and THEN convince me Jesus was the Moshiakh.

But I really do seek to understand why such adamence IS put into converting me, because either you guys are all really crazy or you have something pretty great compared to most religions, and I guess I'm hoping its the latter.

Did you miss the part where I said I'd always been religious? I totally dig God, c'mon now.

I think you've just answered at least some of these questions:
How do you know Christianity is right?
What objective evidence can you show me that Christianity is right?
What should attract me to Christianity?
What does Christianity say that is different to other monotheisic religions?
and why do Christians care if I'm not part of the correct faith, since y'know... well why?

Oh I see, because I said you're either crazy or have the universal truth. But I'm inclined to think crazy of the two. Sorry. So I'd really like to hear an explanation more than "We yell at you a lot therefore our yelling is caused by our rightness."

Sorry if that sounded harsh, but this is the sort of stuff I was complaining about. Christians tell you they have this super special way, and then just immediatly expect that to be accepted by you.

Please bear in mind I'm not saying you're wrong. You might for all I know have the universal truth. But the number one way to make you look like you don't is to just be like "we're the light and the truth". Cuz anyone can do that.

Scientology: it's the light and the truth.

Now it's so.
