i live in Canada and recently converted to Christianity from Islam. I said Sinners Prayer and I was told by Evangelist that my journey has begun as a Christian. But I am not sure which denomination is better.

It is truly wonderful to hear you have rejected the false prophet muhammad and have come to believe the LORD Jesus Christ.

My advice to you is to read the New Testament and Pray to God for Help in understanding His will... Sadly there are many churches out there with false teachings in regard to Jesus and the Way of salvation... It is better to be armed with as much knowledge as possible before walking into a church or picking a denomination.. That way you will be more able to identify false teachings when you hear them..

May the Holy Spirit lead you in the Way of salvation and may you be willing to follow His leading...

The Gospel is wonderfully summarized in John 3.16: ""For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3.16). Regarding local churches, it's what is taught and practised from the Scriptures at the level of a local church that really counts. Acts 2.41-42, studied carefully, is a great guide to local churches; and it's best for the person to figure it out.

There is only one church and its not a physical building or denomination it is those who believe in Christ make up the true church how to pick a church is to go to one and compare what they say and do compared to the Bible then if they error speak to the priest if they prefer tradition over the Lord try a different one till you find one the speaks the truth

Welcome to Christian Forums. Congratulations on becoming a new creature in Christ! I would go with whatever church the person belonged to that led you to Christ. If that is not near you I would look up a Baptist Church. The reason why i say that is because the Baptist can get you grounded in the Bible. They are wonderful at that. You have made public confession of Christ now you must be water baptized to signify your dying to your sins and raising up in the newness of Christ by the washing of the Word on our souls. I would get a journal and every day i would write down all the wonderful things you are learning as a believer in Christ. Blessings my friend. I am very happy for you.

Welcome to the body of Christ, and welcome to CF. You might want to consider the Centre Street Church, if you have a connection through your mentor. It seems they are part of the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada, which has a strong commitment for reaching out to new believers.

I wish you the best, and hope God leads you to a good place to worship. I would recommend you try to find a congregation where the preaching is based on the Bible. Be patient and wait for God's leading. You may want to explore several churches with different viewpoints initially. God will probably encourage you to stay for some time once you find an appropriate church for you.
