  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is that a wrong attitude to have? Does God prefer a marriage union over singleness?

How does everyone else here feel about their singleness? Is it by choice or would you actually prefer to be married?

Well, St. Paul was content with his station in life, so I wouldn't say that God "prefers" marriage over being single. Yet, He did institute marriage and created male and female specifically for that reason. If God had intended for humans to remain single, He would have stopped after creating Adam.

Personally, I am tired of being alone. My being single again was not my choice. My remaining single all these years was more for the security of my children. (I have witnessed families being torn apart and broken by step-"parents" who had issues with their spouses children.)
But my kids are grown and have moved on now, so...

I was content with being single until I dated my last boyfriend. Now it's different. Not only am I lonely for him and miss him, I am feeling loneliness for the first time and dissatisfaction in my life.

I think it's because for one brief moment I knew what it was like to feel love and look at rings making plans.

OHHHH well such is life.

When I was younger I think I would have married anyone just to say I was married, especially when my brother and sister got married. But now I am content with being single. I have a great job, I own my own house etc. But that's not to say that I will never get married. If I do that's great if I don't That's fine also!;) :)
