im not perfect... and i find in my life... that, i fall a lot.. and i seem to do it in spurts, days at a time i feel so far from god.. then days at a time i feel so close to him.. and i have friends who are the same way...

sometimes i wonder if its even possible to stay consistently close to god all the time...

I know that I could not do it on my own. That's why I regularly participate in the Sacrement of Reconcilliation. I find that the more I confess, the less I want to sin, and the less I have to confess, but I keep going. The grace received is well worth it. I even hear that the Pope confesses once a week. If he needs it, then I certainly need it.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John1:9

I agree that a laxity in spiritual matters tends to cause one to stray from God. Keeping up prayer and other devotion is key to staying close to God.

1) It is hard to stray from God when you're always talking to Him!
2) You don't have time to do anything sinful.:)
3) Through our spiritual devotion, God conveys to us the grace necessary to resist temptation.
